Pilots vs. Linfield!
PortlandPilots Write-up
I'm excited to listen to the game tomorrow and I hope to see us roll over Linfield. I'll be interested to see if Taishi, Kramer and Luke are able sustain their performances from last game and if TJ and Jared can get hot from long-distance.
I'd hate to see us join the company of Florida International, who lost to NAIA opponent Northwood or Syracuse, who lost to DII opponent LeMoyne.

Off Topic Question????
This year on my trip (hopefully trips) to the Chiles Center I may be bringing my golf clubs. If any of you gents or Ladies out there have some recomendations on course's in the greater PDX area please suggest. I e-mailed u know who but I think he may be to busy doing something this fall (or think Mesa is CRAZY)to recogmend courses for Mesa to play during the LMT and Pepperdine weekend. Or should I just leave them home because all the Portland courses are closed. Come-on guys its only rainjacket cold when I've been there, and I forget we play 365 days down here in the Valley of the Sun. Oh, that's all right I'll just go practice my chipping on that nice green field next to the Chiles.....
I'm waiting.... :face: .....Maybe geez will take me putt-putt golfing....

Re: Pilots vs. Linfield!
Mesa, what comcast channel do you watch the Pilots on? I also have DirecTV...I didn't think they carried the Oregon Comcast channel. Is it on the Bay Area comcast channel. Did you get to watch all the games that were broadcast on the local (Portland) comcast channel? If that is the case, I will have to get the sports pack for basketball season

Eric, Jared, BJ, Luke, Kramer are in right now. I like this combo and I think we are in good hands next year.

Re: Pilots vs. Linfield!
It is frustrating that the audio didn't work tonight. It is even more frustrating that the live stats quit working with 3:25 to go in the first half. At least last time the stats quit working with 7:35 to go in the game and I had audio all the way through.
Now it is 4:50am and I'm staring at an update-less stats screen.
GO PILOTS!

Re: Pilots vs. Linfield!
Final score, 91-56 Pilots... Campbell, Raivio, Smeulders, Stohl sat almost all of the 2nd half... Sikma and Mitrovic with strong performances... Kramer with some good moves down low. Good court time for the 2nd string.
Nem gets the game ball: 5-6 from 3 (4 in a row in the first half), and played solid D. I would love to see him contribute this year!
Season opener, next Saturday @ EWU. Anyone else going?!

Also a shout out to the students who showed up tonight and were loud... and to the game management folks. The band, DJ, dance team, etc are all much improved this year... The game atmosphere has been upgraded noticeably! Congrats to Tricia and Joe!!

Re: Pilots vs. Linfield!
Nem had something of a breakout night. He looks to me like a guy who can step in off the bench at more than one position. It can't hurt having another shooter, and he can drive a little.ShipstadPilot11 wrote:Nem just nailed 4 3-pointers in a row!!!
The other guy who really stood out was Sikma, as he did in the first game. I know it's an exhibition, but he looks like he's in great shape and can grab a ton of rebounds on just his strength.

That one guy was really good at the pants contest. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Re: Pilots vs. Linfield!
What did the band think of the anthem performance? It did not sit right with me. I'd much rather have heard the band play the anthem.

Re: Pilots vs. Linfield!
Several people around me said the anthem performance was the longest they have ever heard and wished it was shorter. No comment on quality, just length. (not band people, just fans)

Re: Pilots vs. Linfield!
I thought he was good. It sounded really cool to me, though I can see how it wouldn't be for everyone. We were joking about how some of the fans probably wanted him to wrap it up towards the end.

Re: Pilots vs. Linfield!
Well that was fun! I know it's just an exhibition game, but boy is it fun to see how well this team shoots. Something tells me we might hit that 10 three pointer mark several times this year... lots of coupons for Dick's!
A few notes: to those who were wondering what was up with Jasonn, he had the flu and they decided (wisely) that he shouldn't even be on the bench for fear of spreading it. Too bad, really, because I think he could have had a nice game and built some confidence heading into the season.
As for the audio and live stats... it was one of those things where everything kind of went wrong. There was a scheduling conflict on the radio with the Winterhawks that no one caught until it was too late, so the UP game got delayed. Not sure why the UP audio didn't work, but I'm guessing it had something to do with the aforementioned problem. As for the live stats... well, sometimes you are at the mercy of a balky computer, and that's what happened... it froze and there wasn't a way to get it going again and re-set it up while the game was going on. Frustrating, but one of the annoyances of being so reliant on technology.
Thanks for the props about the atmosphere... we're trying to do it right this year. Suggestions are always welcome!
As for the anthem... I loved it. I agree it was too long, but doing something different like that - it's cool. And he was a great guitar player.

Re: Pilots vs. Linfield!
Go JOE, go Joe is all I got to say on that subject. YOur our hero buddy!!!
Maddywizz just call the operator up on the phone on Direct-TV. I tried being a wizzard online and figure out the best package for me, then stopped, called Direct-TV CSA'S and let them handle it. Saved me about 4 hours this fall, and I was able to work in a round on the Links instead of trying to outwit the Satelitte company. It's an old indian trick my 10 yr old Rhodesian Ridgeback taught me. (Native American's for you liberal puk@s/pelossi lovers, and youngsters born after 1975) That's what we experts in the SouthWEST call them. Indians...Injuns is a slur not indians.
Mesa (notice the indian name, just like the golf course I played on today was Apache Creek.........Think John Wayne, look at the Avatar , this guy must know something about the last 1200 years of human settlement on mother earth by indians ---Anasazi,HOPI,HOHokem and others. Lesson over liberal arts grads.

I thought he had a couple of shots that really stood out in the video highlights of the previous game too. I think we're officially deeper than last year...if there was any doubt.
