Re: WCC Tourney: Pilots vs. BYU
I've been impressed with all aspects of the UP venture to Vegas... Obviously Rev had the team ready, with some changes to the practice routine/preparations. Additionally, the O coverage has been great, the Alumni and Development folks have put on great events (I love the pre game on the concourse and tonight's non game day gathering), the band and dance team are great per usual, and the fan turnout has been good.
I will add this in this thread, too: UP Alumni and Friends gathering tonight (Sunday) at 7 pm at McMullans Irish pub, across the side street, west of the Orleans. Come and raise a glass and share some complimentary "heavy appetizers" with fellow Pilots!

The 'U' is really stepping up with events for fans this year. Much appreciated. Extra inventive to not miss the Vegas trip next year. 'Course, it's lots more fun when the team does well, too.
We talked about it all year, but not being in the bottom four really was a big deal. Thanks to SCU for making that happen.

Re: WCC Tourney: Pilots vs. BYU
GO PILOTS! We can really go all out defending their guards, and try to shut down the 3-point shooting. But then we need to control Colinsworth on the boards. BYU had way too many offensive rebounds last time we played them.
LET'S DO IT!

More from Jason Quick. This time a feature on Jason Todd, who will be starting again tonight. I say stick Todd on Colinsworth. He's big enough and strong enough to do the job.

Re: WCC Tourney: Pilots vs. BYU
Portland played the Cougers tough for stretches in both games this year, including leading at half at home. It's time to see if this team can play a full 40 minutes with BYU. If we do, I think we can win.

There has never been a better cheering section in Vegas than when the Knutsons showed up! Maybe you could get the whole family to come.

This is the absolute truth! I miss the Knutson family in the arena. And in the casino. And....

Re: WCC Tourney: Pilots vs. BYU
It can happen....
Today in women's basketball, #5 BYU upset #1 GU and #6 USF upset #2 USD.
The Las Vegas odds favoring BYU over UP tonight have gone up; it's now BYU by 9 with a u/o of 152.
(GU is favored by 13.5 over PU).

What can you do but tip your cap to BYU?
I hope they make the tournament. I think they will regardless of how they do tomorrow.

Re: WCC Tourney: Pilots vs. BYU
I'm a fan of ESPN's Beth Mowins, and I know they need to keep the ESPN audience interested when the score got out of hand, but wow they didn't really mention the pilots from the time Collinsworth got close to his triple double. Taylor scored 12 of his points in the final 8 minutes. You would think the announcers could interrupt their conversation at least once to mention Taylor's name. Maybe I'll go with the delay next time too.MesaPilot1 wrote: Either that or turn down the ESPN announcers and listen to good ol Pdx station ....complete with delay...ha,ha...the things will do to listen to our "homer" announcers... Re: WCC Tourney: Pilots vs. BYU
Watching the game up close, it was obvious BYU is a much better TEAM than they were just 6 weeks ago....eveyone contibutes!
How the WCC coaches did not select Collinsworth as the league MVP is beyond me....and to think that just a year ago he blew-out his knee at the Orleans.
As usual, some of complaining and sense of entitlement displayed by a few BYU fans (including one 40 something guy who threatened one of the 75 year-old ushers and was carted off by police) put a damper on what should have been a night of celebration for the BYU faithful.
A number of UP players were pretty nicked-up by thd end of the game, especially Alec and Bryce. The reason D'Marques only played a minute, and was not on the bench in the second half, was because of a stomach ailment.
The Pilots will return home tomorrow, and after few days off, will begin practicing for a CIT game....probably in the Chiles Center on St. Patrick's Day.
Yikes, it was pointed out to me that this is my 5000th post on PN....I gotta get a life.

At half time, I thought the under was a sure winner. Good 2nd half effort.DoubleDipper wrote:The Las Vegas odds favoring BYU over UP tonight have gone up; it's now BYU by 9 with a u/o of 152.
