Re: St. Mary's at Portland 8 PM Thursday Jan 12.
Oregon Governor Kate Brown declared a state of emergency due to the severe storm that buried Portland in the most snow the city has seen since at least 2008, and KIRO news reported this morning that Seattle sent a convoy of heavy-duty vehicles to Portland after the storm dumped a foot of snow, toppled trees, and cut power to thousands.
SDOT sent two dozen workers, eight salt and plow trucks, an aerial lift truck, a wood chipper truck and a chainsaw crew....maybe some of those workers will be in North Portland today.

I'm starting to think that it may be time for Portland to invest in some City owned snow plows.

Anybody with an updated road report for 26 through the west hills. Traffic cam makes it look OK, but you can't tell what kind of tires/chains people have on. Don't own chains for my vehicle so debating whether to go to the game. Roads out here and 26 out here is down to bare pavement once you get out of neighborhood streets.

Can someone do some research and tell me if we've ever scored less than 10 in a half?

Have we ever scored 33 or less in a game?

I mean, we're still more of a soccer school.........right?
To be honest, the one "highlight" for me (if you could call it that) watching some 2,600 miles away on an island in the middle of the ocean was seeing a UP commercial on my television screen for the first time since graduating a semester ago. (wew class of 2016)

When they passed out the Porter 30 t-shirts, they should have told the team that wasn't the scoring objective.

Soooo bad. As cold as the weather even when open and on layups. I guess one theory is if you're gonna have a cold shooting night it may as well be in a game you were gonna lose anyways. St. Mary's defense was good as expected and they would have win handily anyways, but wow. Two in a row.
Fremont bridge is awful. Might skip the Saturday game if there's no evidence of it being better. Most everywhere else is OK if you go reasonable speeds. Enough bad spots that if everyone drove their normal commute at the same time there's gonna be some accidents. The only one I saw was a jeep that had recently gone off 26 and well into the median. Clearly a case of 4wd I can go fast, but still can't brake any better than anyone elseitis

My problem tonight was the guy going 15mph on Willamette Blvd, and the guy going 30 mph on I-84. Sheesh, pick it up a little.
Glad I don't have to go north on I-205. It has been slammed for two days solid.

I'm entering my fourth decade of going to these games, and this was almost certainly the worst performance I've ever seen. And as the old-timers around here know, there historically is no shortage of bad performances to choose from.

Three Things:
1. Positives - Smoyer blocks and Rashad Jackson's breakaway lay-in (he is lightning).
2. Negatives - Nearly every statistic and what appears to be a one dimensional offense, box-up Alec and we're toast.
3. Campus looked pretty in the snow at night.

In a five-on-one game between the Pilots and Hermanson, we'd win 33-27.

Not since the 1940s, apparently.
The Pilots' lowest-ever point total was 27 points, in a 43-27 loss to Pacific Lutheran in 1947-48.

Awww...it's not that bad. It's only the lowest output in 28 years.
(Pilots lost 53-31 to San Diego at home late in the 1988/89 season)

Rebounding was 50-16 for SMC. Gaels had 16 offensive boards to UP's 13 defensive rebounds. Never seen anything like it.
I guess the bright side is that given the schedule, I think most on this board would have been okay with a 2-2 record after four WCC games...but I think it's safe to say given the results of the last two, the LMU game tomorrow night might be shaping up to be the most important of the year for the Pilots. This team is so heavily reliant on Wintering, let's hope he regains some confidence early and helps right the ship in a hurry.

Re: St. Mary's at Portland 8 PM Thursday Jan 12.
A couple of thoughts after last nights game:
1) As much as we lose in offense from Philipp, he makes up for in better defense and rebounding.
2) We miss Jarrel. Hopefully he will be back soon.
3) Hermanson 27 points - Tyson 0 points
As much as I dislike Coach Bennett, St. Mary's plays really good basketball and is fun to watch (just not when playing the Pilots).
