2017 Tournament Pickem
It's that time of the year again. Here's the link https://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/t1/group/37275/invitation?key=abb961c2894e8e01&soc_trk=lnk

Please let me know if there are any issues in joining the league.
WW Winkie is our defending champion. He was in Vegas this year, but forgot to collect his bucket of beer. If I were to win, you can count on me collecting! Maybe it should be changed to a pitcher of beer at Bailiwick?

They had pitchers??
I say we give the choice: (1) a bucket o' beers from the Alligator Bar, (2) a pitcher from Bailiwick, or (3) whatever Woodless had... Just kidding, just (1) or (2). A non-alcohol prize can be substituted upon request.
My apologies to WW Winkie for my failing to remember to pay up.... remind me next year and the offer will still stand.

I hear the link I posted didn't work. I've updated the original post with a new new link. Again, let me know if it doesn't work.

That bottle of Maker's Mark a few hours before game time probably didn't help. Between a PN member throwing up in my rental car last year on the way home from the NASCAR race and Woodless not being able to make it through the fist 10 minutes of the game this year, maybe the problem is me . . . Wait, No, that's not it.

Re: 2017 Tournament Pickem
I've really got to get down to Vegas sometime for this. Looks like you guys had a blast. My buddy that's an SMC fan flew down and I'm pretty sure went on a four-day bender with those guys. Might need to take in one of these before I get even more old and sedate...

Just a reminder to get signed up and get your brackets filled out before the start of the first games tomorrow (I'm looking at you Stonehouse).

The first four is stupid and Yahoo agrees. The brackets don't start until the real tournament begins.

Re: 2017 Tournament Pickem
I wanted to pick MTSU.... but all the pundits were talking so much about the upset that I talked myself out of it.

Re: 2017 Tournament Pickem
I picked MTSU, and they looked really good. I like their offense motion. When they slowed down to preserve their lead, Minn came back, but couldn't finish. They
I also liked Princeton, and they almost got it done. Too bad.

Not sure how someone could get the Xavier upset correct, and not have the Middle Tennessee upset right. That's how you miss a perfect day one.

Pretty good year for Pilot Nation. 6 people only missed one game on day one. I'm guessing we don't do as well today.

Yuck, 0 for 2 to start the day.

Re: 2017 Tournament Pickem
With USC beating SMU, I take sole possession of first place, as fleeting as it may be. Neither USC or SMU could make the front end of a one and one down the stretch. Came down to a missed shot at the buzzer by SMU (it was a really good look though).

I appear to be on the wrong side of a lot of close games this year.

Re: 2017 Tournament Pickem
I don't know how to see the Yahoo overall stats. But on ESPN, there are 164 perfect Rd 1 brackets. That is less than .0009%, since they have almost 18.8M brackets. That's actually pretty good, since the odds are reported to be calculated at 1 in 4.3 billion to got the first round correct.
So how did 164 do it against those odds? The professer who calculated those odds likely assume every team had an equal chance to win. But that isn't true in real life. For the most part, results were true to form and higher seeds prevailed. And some of the "upsets" were commonly predicted (MTSU, WSU). So you really only had to pick a few upsets correctly, and take the favorites on all others. Still, pretty darn impressive.
Since there were so few real upsets, maybe someone got Warren Buffet's $1,000,000.

I dont have yahoo, (nor want to download it) so didnt get to draw in your pool. I am however on ESPN and in a group titled Fans of Portland. I am surprised to say that I am #1 in that pool after today. Player name is PilotPride. I wonder if anyone from this board is on there.........

Re: 2017 Tournament Pickem
According to Twitter, the Butler win over Middle Tennessee St ended the run of the last perfect brackets on ESPN. There had been two perfect brackets left after Xavier beat Florida St. 18 million, and no got through day 3.

Re: 2017 Tournament Pickem
Ha! Tied for 3rd place after the round of 32!
Might be my high water mark. Half of my Elite 8 is gone. And my Villanova-Louisville final looks really bad. I have the lowest possible total points. Oh well. For three days I'm talking smack to Blacksheep.

Re: 2017 Tournament Pickem
Mesa and SC Pilot (I assume Famously Wrong is your bracket?) are currently in the lead, but 2 people (me and Queen Bee) have more points possible (I still have 7 of my 8 elite 8 teams still alive). It's too bad SC Pilot didn't have any faith in SC beating Duke.
Rochin54 and Woodless are fighting to not be last. 7587 is currently in 3rd, but this is the only week for talking smack as he has the fewest possible points.
Playing around with the scenario generator, I win if higher seeds or highest RPI win all the games. Hoping for no more upsets. Still lots of people still in it for the bucket of beer!
