Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
Valpo was favored by 2 at SCU, but shot 56% from the field to win, 76-68.
In Spokane the Zags were back on form after Saturday's OT win, and turned back IUPUI, 101-71.

San Diego State 72, #12 Gonzaga 70 (Caught the final 30 seconds on TV. Sounded like the Zags backcourt did not have a good night.)
BYU 85, Idaho State 71
San Jose State 75, Santa Clara 63 (Santa Clara only scored 18 in the first half)

Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
GU lost at San Diego St. tonight, 72-70, in a game they never led. Perkins had 6 turnovers, 6 fouls, and 5 points. They missed key FTs late. Devin Watson, a USF refugee, scored the clutch basket. SDS had lost their last game, 63-62 to Cal. The same Cal currently trailing Portland St. 56-37 at halftime.
GU had been averaging over 90 points per game. Fun fact, two of the three highest scoring teams in the country are UP opponents, Oklahoma and Portland St.

Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
Just finished watching PSU's drubbing of Cal, 106-81. The Bears were more like deer caught in headlights most of the game.
What's going on at SCU? Not only have they dropped 135 spots in KenPom's rankings, but they're 2-9 against D1 opponents. Admittedly they've played some pretty decent teams (at USC/at home against Valpo and Nevada) but tonight's loss to San Jose St. was their 4th in a row, including 3 out of those 4 at home. KJ Feagin is still getting the job done there, but he's not getting any help in the middle.
GU will be fine. Yes, it was a bad night for Perkins, but Coach Few is getting such good performances out of 2 freshmen and 3 sophomores, that the team will only get better throughout the regular seasons.
BYU, a winner tonight, doesn't seem to have lost anything with Mika's departure to the pros, and Emery taking the year off to emotionally recover from his divorce. Probably good the Pilots will get their game in Provo out of the way at the beginning of the season while many of the fans are thinking more about Christmas the BYU basketball....I hope!

Classes are not in session, so student attendance should be down. Maybe. At least the game will be on BYU TV, and I like their broadcasts.

Re: WCC Non-Conference Results
Watched #3 ASU's trouncing of UOP today, but don't sell the Tigers short, they're actually much improved from last season, but the Sun Devils are the real deal....maybe even the top team in the nation right now.
USF got away with scoring 18 points in the first half of their last game, and still won, but not tonight. Favored by 5, they lost to Duquesne by 2 in the Orleans Arena after scoring only 22 points in the first half.
LMU, favored by 5 at home over Cal St. Fullerton, was down 10 at the half and could never recover in their 8 point loss.

BYU 73, Texas Southern 52
San Fransisco 66, Nevada 64
Caught the last few minutes of the USF vs. Nevada game. Nail-biting back and forth, but at the second-to-last Nevada possession, it looked to be a turnover out of bounds, to which a Nevada player did a behind the back heave to try and save it. Unfortunately for him, it fell into the Dons hands which then turned into the go-ahead 3 with 6 seconds to go. Wolfpack could not get in the bucket before the buzzer sounded.
Props to the Dons for making a frustrating night for a usually high scoring Nevada and the huge win.
