2018 - 2019 Non-conference Schedule
Here we go. Time for real games. Starting Tuesday evening with Multnomah University. Interestingly, the game is listed as an exhibition for Multnomah on their web site. Can a game be a counting game for the D1 school and an exhibition for the NAIA school?
The Lions played Saturday night against Cal Maritime, winning 125-114. They shot 21-46 from 3P (45.7%). They only played seven players, with the starters all getting 30 or more minutes; four of them getting 35 to 39 minutes. Four guys took 86% of the shots, and each scored 20+ points, with Justin Martin, a 5'9" JR getting 44 (7-9 from 2P, 6-12 from 3P, 12-15 from FT). Might want to guard him, he got 31 against PSU..
They have no big guys seeing action, with their other key players being three at 6'0", two at 6'6", and one at 6'7". They have four other guys, who didn't see action on Saturday, and only played 14 minutes combined against PSU, so not much of a factor.
I wonder if the Pilots will play big to overpower the smaller Lions, or play small to try to match up with their long range shooters? I have not been overwhelmed with the reports from the exhibition games. I look forward to watching the Pilots in person. Given that the Lions' 5 main guys played 30+ minutes on both Thursday and Saturday, I expect the bigger and deeper Pilots to dominate this game, and will be concerned if they cannot do so.

A game against an NAIA team, for whom the game is an exhibition. On election night. Not a real exciting way to start the season.
Agreed with up7587... I’ll be concerned if we don’t dominate in every facet of the game.

Election Night? Can you really call it election night when most people voted a long time ago. Heck, I mailed my ballot like two weeks ago. Makes those annoying political ads even more annoying!

Forum stuff...is there anyone else that prefers the "one thread per game" format rather than lumping it into large thread for all of non-conference?
I mostly use my phone to read this forum and I find it easier to keep track of discussions when they're separate threads.

Yes, but I also find it easier to have someone else start the threads, so I don't complain about how they do it

It is interesting that you bring this up, as I was going to suggest this as we move back to the regular season--I think a different thread for each game fosters more discussion on each. I will volunteer to fire up the first one for tomorrow night!

Thanks for taking the lead, PilotNut! Since we have this thread started already, what if we use it to discuss the non-conference games being played by the other WCC members?

Re: 2018 - 2019 Non-conference Schedule
Good call, I want to make sure I have a place to rip Gonzaga for complaining about having li'l old Portland on the schedule twice, but then going and scheduling freaking North Alabama in our place.
Maybe PilotNut can rename the thread or something, "Around the WCC" or whatever?

I'm just spit balling here... but we could also start a shiny new thread with that as the topic...
I do believe it is a worthwhile subject.

Around the West, I looked at the Nevada schedule. They are loaded with talent, both returning and transfers. And it looks like Jazz Johnson started their exhibition game. They open at home with BYU Tuesday.
