SCU beat Idaho tonight, 77-56. That's four straight wins for the Broncos.
GU will have another big test on the 28th against the UNA Lions. They've lost three straight, and are 46 places below UP in KenPom.

WCC is now 9-7 against the Pac-12 this year and clinches a winning regular season record (unless the ASU/USF game is rescheduled)

Otherwise, less positive results for the WCC.
UOP lost at Boise St 83-71
SMC lost at W. Kentucky 71-68
USF beat Stanford at home 74-65
LMU lost at UC Riverside 60-53 This is a bad loss; UCR was #301. Batemon was held to 10 points in 40 minutes.
BYU lost at San Diego St 90-81

Yeah, and except for a late tie at 73, USD was in control most of the evening at the Orleans Arena. Pineiro (30 pts) is a beast, and his supporting cast is isn't too shabby either.Geezaldinho wrote:USD just beat WSU 82-75
Western Kentucky is always tough, and today they showed SMC how tough by beating the Gaels, 71-68. Fitts had 26 and Ford 28 for the losing team.
USF was in total control in their win over Stanford, 74-65. Make no doubt about it, this excellent Don team is Frankie Ferrari's team...he runs the show and scores too (17 tonight).
As much as I always want the WCC to win, for some reason I don't feel that way about BYU, losers tonight on the road to San Diego St, 90-81. Childs was smothered and couldn't get many shots up and scored 11 while Hawes had 18.
The big upset tonight was UC Riverside over LMU, 60-53, as UCR's defense held the Lions to just 23 point in the second half. LMU drops to 11-2, their other loss coming at the hands of UCLA.
Boise State handled UOP at home, 83-71. UOP had balanced scoring, but BSU held UP nemesis Anthony Townes to just 2 points.
In other games I watched today, Texas State, the winner of the Portland Classic, suffered just their second loss of the season, 73-70, to a very athletic Arkansas squad, and Kentucky had little trouble with North Carolina, 80-72, in Chicago.
In the Armed Forces Bowl today, Army beat Houston in football, 70-14, for Army's winningest season ever as they improved to 11-2....and they've playing since 1890! After the game their coach, Jeff Monken, said the words that the Portland Pilots team should live by, "We never claim to be the most talented team, but you don't have to have the best players to win, you've gotta have the best TEAM to win!"

Carter scored 30, Wright 25, and Pineiro 20, but today the favored (by 5 points) USD Toreros dropped the championship game of the Las Vegas Classic to Drake, 110-103 in double-overtime.

Of the nine opponents playing WCC teams today and tomorrow, GU opponent #325 No. Alabama is the weakest per KenPom. Only one close is #320 San Jose St., playing at SMC tomorrow. BYU takes on the toughest opponent, going to Mississippi St, which is 11-1, 8-0 at home and ranked #19 (#23 KenPom).

The Zags preseason ordeal continues, leading No. Alabama 29-1 after 8 minutes, and 48-14 at half. With 14 minutes to go, they've let bench players take four shots and a couple trips for FTs.

Been a great day for the WCC so far. Not only did BYU get spanked on national television, Santa Clara just dumped Washington State in Spokane!

Santa Clara and Pepperdine seem to have improved significantly. Pilots might actually be competitive with BYU this time, with it being a home game. San Francisco has kind of an interesting game at UCSB. Only a 4 point favorite despite being much more than that in Pomeroy.
If I were a betting man I'd go for USF only giving 4 points and Pacific a 3 point underdog against Irvine.

Now that the preseason is over we can make a list of all the teams that went below .500 in out of conference play:
1) Portland
Uh, I guess that's the list.
