2019 Season Tickets
Got our season ticket renewal packet in the mail yesterday. After 20 years of season tickets, going to the tournaments, and being part of the Pilot Club, we've decided to abandon all three. It's a sad day for us. I consider myself to be a loyal Pilot fan. I even have a Pilot license plate on my truck. But the decline of the program over the last three years and the loss of an exceptionally talented assistant coach are just too much. Honestly, last year was the first time we ever left games early. It was the first time we ever just skipped a game. It was too frustrating and just too painful to watch at times. I don't post often, but I've always maintained we have talented and dedicated players. I don't blame them. I sincerely hope we're wrong about this year's prospects in Terry's fourth year. I'd be delighted to apologize for doubting him. I'd be delighted to renew our tickets - but not before I see some success.
We plan to go to some of the games and may go to most, or all, of the women's games. But for men's basketball, we plan to go to PSU, Multnomah, and Warner Pacific games. Multnomah is especially fun to watch. We barely beat them last year. You may remember Justin Martin from that game - he lit it up. Later in the season, he scored 72 points in a game. The team made 36 three point shots in a game - a new record nationally for their division (beating the old record of 32, also held by Multnomah). There's good basketball out there - it's just not on the bluff. My heart is still with UP though. We'll be back when Terry shows he's learned something or when there is a new coach.

Amen.
Another weak out of conference home schedule. Leaving games early or just skipping games altogether. Subpar performances.
No reason to keep renewing my season tickets.

Very eloquently stated, bullwinkle. I'm not close enough geographically to have an impact with my wallet, but I do share many of your thoughts here.
I know what you're saying. I'm just not sure what to make of the whole situation with Coach Cantu. I've never met the man and clearly he is highly regarded in many circles of college basketball. He was a fantastic interview the times I happened to catch him on the post-game show, saying many of the exact things that I wanted to hear as a frustrated Pilots fan.
But at the same time, I do struggle with bringing back the exact same staff after what we saw on the court last year. The only people that can make a full and fair assessment of Coach Cantu's time with the Pilots are the ones that are with the program each and every day, and I'm sure not one of them.

Re: 2019 Season Tickets
I left a game early last year, the first time in my life leaving any game in progress. Dad raised us to never leave early, no matter how bad our team was getting whipped. But I was just too angry at stupid mistakes being repeated on the floor.
I will buy a season ticket. Hopefully I'll be able to sit through the entire games.

Everyone has their breaking point.
Scotch in the Pilot Club has so far kept me from reaching mine.

At least now we can bring the adult beverage back to our seat. It's just that now we don't want to go back to our seats.
