No, the coaches rankings come out tomorrow.
The NCAA released the first RPI rankings today. This release gives a good indication of non-conference RPI, which is a secondary consideration come tournament time.
UP is at 17 in this edition.
BYU is 26, Pepperdine is 36.

Ok, NOW.
The September 20 coach’s poll is out and UP broke into the rankings at #24!

I believe you have to go back to perhaps 2010 to find both teams ranked.

Last night Ann and Angela mentioned there are only 3 schools that have both the Men’s and Women’s programs undefeated, so I went looking.
I could only find two schools that met the criteria. Somebody must have lost.
Washington - m 5-0-1 , w 5-0-2
Portland - m 4-0-3 , w 5-0-4
Edit: the wake Forest women suffered their first loss on Sunday, loosing to NC State.
The Wake men’s team is still undefeated.

Then there was one.
The UW women lost to Oregon 2-0 , leaving Portland the only D1 program in the Nation with both men’s and Women’s teams undefeated.

Re: Ranked
As they head down to San Diego, the UP women are ranked #15 in this week’s coaches poll sandwiched between Stanford and Notre Dame.
The current published RPI has Notre Dame at #3 , UP at #12 ( actually #11 this morning) , and Stanford at #34.
UP moved up a slot overnight when #9 Harvard lost to Boston U last night and dropped 13 points to #22.
It just goes to show how volatile the RPI is at this stage of the season.

Re: Ranked
As a further example of the volatility of the RPI, after tonight’s 2-0 shutout of hapless San Diego, UP’s RPI dropped from #11 before the game to #15 right after it.
The root cause appears to be that USD’s record and RPI just aren’t very good, and that LMU, the only other WCC opponent UP has faced also lost to Santa Clara tonight.
Focus on what you can do something about. Next up, USF, who got shellacked by BYU 6-0 in Provo tonight.

Two shutout wins last week moved the Women up one slot to #14 in the coaches poll.
The RPI settled into the same #14 number.

Great news for the women's team...it was looking kind of grim to get in, let alone host, after the losses to USF and GU.

Learned tonight that because all revenue from the postseason game on Saturday goes to the NCAA, it is requiring students to pay for admission to the game.A_Fan wrote:Great news!
When I mentioned this to President Kelly, he was incredulous at first, but then said the university would pay the admission for any student who wanted to attend Saturday's game.

You’re getting warmer while I get colder (but also you are too probably).
In the past, the University has always come up with a way to cover some or all student admission costs to the NCAA games. Glad to see that’s still the case.

Will there be TV? I assume that the monopolists in Indianapolis will not allow the Pilots to stream.

The monopolists haven’t had such a restriction in the past.
In fact, the interactive bracket on the ncaa site usually provides a direct link to any live streams.
That’s usually where I go to follow the tournament.
I think UP won’t show a stream link until ticket sales mature a bit.

Perhaps, but as all the revenue goes to the NCAA, not to UP, I don't see a good reason for holding back a link.Geezaldinho wrote:I think UP won’t show a stream link until ticket sales mature a bit.
With that said...Everyone who is able should be at the game!!!

Definitely the more at the game, the better. We got our regular season ticket bench back seats and asked for two more nearby. The ticket office let us know today that the two additional seats are right next to our season ticket seats. They do an amazing job!

It is my understanding the Students will get in free ( to them)
No excuses for poor attendance on that side of the pitch.

Links to stats and live video are up on the site. PortlandPilots.com
The field was being groomed and NCAA signage was going up this morning.
Also TV at ESPN+
If you can make it to the game, you should be at Merlo, though.
