Sollars Sets WCC Win Record
Pilots beat SMC today, 80-78.
Congrats to Coach Sollars for setting the record for most W's by any WCC women's hoops coach, at 130. Congratulations!
It looks like this was a very ugly game, with the Pilots giving up a 17 point second half lead, to win a barn burner in the last 6 seconds. The Pilots turned the ball over 33 times. Anyone at the game care to comment on ow the heck we win a game by turning the ball over 33 times?!?!!? That is almost once a minute... ugh. We'll take the W, though.
Can you believe we have reached the mid-point of the WCC season already?!
GO PILOTS!

Re: Sollars Sets WCC Win Record
I was there and I can tell you it did not need to be that close. Looking at the box score we had the edge in rebounding, 53-35. We did get 12 points from Lauren Angel, and Burris, who averages 7 ppg, scored 18!
Here's something else: I was looking over the season stats with our director at halftime, and Burris has 73 assists and 38 turnovers . She had 8 and 4, respectively, today. No one else had more than 2 A, three Pilots had 5 TOs, and Morris had 6. Not only can I see why she starts, I would say she's the most underrated player on the team.
Not pretty, but I'll take the win. And congrats to Coach Sollars!

Re: Sollars Sets WCC Win Record
Don't forget Karlie had 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and a steal, too.
While her play was hardly perfect, a couple of those assists were nothing short of brilliant. At least one of those TO's wasn't her fault, either. She had a great game and pretty much saved UP's bacon.
Gotta cut down on the turnover's though. I would have been close otherwise.
Congrats to Jim

Re: Sollars Sets WCC Win Record
You are correct, sir--as the official UP write-up stated, she was close to a triple-double.
I've noticed Lauren Angel is starting to get more minutes, which is probably a good idea since Warren will be gone next year, leaving a big hole at center. I'm sure Sollars will be recruiting some bigs.
Lastly, I'm normally not one to complain about this, but it looked like Croinin took 2 or 3 charges. However, she got charged with the foul each time and ended up fouling out. Is there some sort of new rule I didn't know about? (end sarcasm)

Re: Sollars Sets WCC Win Record
I'd like to know what Lauren Angel said from the bench to warrant a technical.
She seems like she is going to be a good player for the Pilots, she can knock down the mid-range jumper very well.
I agree with you PPT, Cronin plays good defense with her feet. She gets good position and these ref's didn't seem to recognize it. However I think all of us who were at the game would agree (including the St. Mary's fans) that this wasn't the league's best officiating crew.
