San Diego Upsets Gonzaga!!!!!!!

wow what a performance by these guys the past two days... gives us hope to try and play out the same kind of scenario next year and try and get into the tournament

just goes to show how much the conference is improving year by year as we now have (most likely) 3 teams in the big dance

by my calculations (just speculating) the WCC will be one of about 10-12 conferences to have 2 or more teams in the NCAA tournament and likely the only one not labeled as a power conference to have 3

Was definately a fun game to watch. I think USD used the home crowd to their advantage...similar to UP in the first round last year.

The Madness will be interesting this year.

It was an interesting game, for sure. USD game out with fire, and the Zags were flat--you could see malaise on their faces from the beginning.

As far as home court goes, there were WAY MORE Gonzaga fans there than USD fans... The Zags travel very well.

Congrats to first year USD Coach Bill Grier--he has done a great job. Granted he inherited a very full cupboard (as opposed to Reveno) but he has done a great job.... congrats to him.

Sure sounded like there were more USD fans on TV, but I'll take eyewitnesses any day.

Well, the USD folks had a lot more to cheer about.

There was a good number of USD folks, too... but it was a little disappointing in that twice as many of them showed up Monday night as did Sunday night... a bit o' the bandwagon.

I wonder how much that's different from UP fans though. I mean, let's look at it this way...the game that gets the most students at UP is the UP-GU game. For the most part, at least. I would think that it's a similar phenomenon for the rest of the WCC schools (Gonzaga and maybe SMC being the exceptions).

That is a bummer, though I suspect that a lot of the people cheering for USD were really just fans of other WCC schools who were rooting against Gonzaga (or for the underdog, if you want to be more friendly about it).

Also a possibility is that bunch of Saint Mary's fans (or fans of other WCC schools) sold/gave their tickets to the final to USD fans. I bet a bunch of Gael fans wanted to get out of dodge after the semi-final upset.

This is great for the conference IMO. Now we get THREE teams in - Gonzaga, St. Marys, USD.
