Always good to see WCC guys in the NBA... But it still baffles me that players like Alex get repeated contracts while Pooh sees no love... I mean I know I'm biased but really, would someone explain it to me

How could you pass up a player with these stats:

6.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 30 games for FC Barcelona

In a lot of ways I selfishly wish Alex Acker would have stayed for another year at Pepperdine because I thought he was super talented and I loved watching him play. Actually, that whole Pepperdine team from 02-03/03-04 was really tough... Acker, Glen McGowan, and Yakhouba Diawara... damn. Good team for sure, and they always throttled us.

But I know that he did have some good success in the D-League and was at the end of the Pistons' bench for a while too. Hope he can stick this time!

I didn't know Acker was a footballer. Maybe his poor strike rate is why Barca have struggled in recent seasons.

(I'll go stand in the corner now...)

I totally agree that Pooh Jeter deserves more love. Is he on a roster right now? He was with the Kings, wasn't he?

James,

Welcome to the board! Honestly I'm not sure what Pooh is up to now. He played with the Timberwolves in the summer league and played well but I haven't heard what he's been up to since. He did play with the Kings and was signed for their training camp two years ago, but was cut when they had to trim down to 15 players. He played in the D-League the year after UP and was an all-star... he got some serious interest from Toronto after that, but ended up playing in the Ukraine last year.

A quick Google news search shows that he has signed with Menorca of the Spanish ACB league, which is probably the best league in Europe. So he'll definitely be playing against some good competition, including lots of future and former NBA players.

I still hope that Pooh will make it to the NBA one day... I think the talent is there for sure. But it will get tougher and tougher as he gets older just because NBA teams, all things being equal, would rather have a 20 year old on their roster than a 24 year old. And it's especially tough give his height. But still... I know that if a team were to give him a chance, he would prove that he belongs.

Absolutely . Every Laurel needs a Hardy. Every Allen needs a Burns. Every Abbott needs a Costello. Every Palin needs a McCain.
