The student section will be good this year, I personally guarantee it.

Glad to hear it, 13! Great to see focused leadership back this year. A distinct home crowd is a factor in close games... I hope things get rolling for Yale on Friday! When the students get fired up, it gets the whole arena fired up!

People who were there: One of the headlines on the game indicates the Stott was sold out. Was it really?

Trumpet, Drummer... you would make my day if you could resurrect "Jesus Christ Superstar"! Ha ha... get it? Resurrect? Oh man... I'll be here all day folks.
I know you said that Beauchamp put the kibosh on it, but see if the new guy can make a push!

Could be fun if we had him do it, then he could play the "who, me?!" card...Stonehouse wrote:Trumpet, Drummer... you would make my day if you could resurrect "Jesus Christ Superstar"! Ha ha... get it? Resurrect? Oh man... I'll be here all day folks.

If not, it was pretty close. There were a few empty seats around us, but not many.
Does anyone know what was up with the group standing just off the court in front of the drum squad yelling abuse at our players? With their "costumes" we thought maybe they were entertainment, but no. Seemed to me they obscured the view of some seated fans. Strange.
Finally, complete agreement on the announcer. I always appreciated the reserved style. Just say the names. Sound like a pro, not a clown. Act like your fans understand the game and know when to cheer.

Unfortunately performances like the following encourage announcers to get a bit, um... creative....

That song is everywhere these days! OMB is using it in their halftime show (theme: rock operas). When I heard it I wished we were still playing it.
Then this morning my radio wakes me up to KINK playing..."Superstar!"
(Yes, I listen to KINK. I'm a lot more mature when I'm not at games.)

I cannot tell you how many times I've heard that from:
a.) Parents
b.) Girlfriend
c.) Andy Kuffner (Brick Oven, baby!)
d.) All of the above

Re: Portland State game on Tuesday
In my junior year there was a new sentence in the Pep Band contract. Something about we have to behave appropriately, represent the University, etc., and you will be warned by the director if you act up.
I have no idea why people would look at me when that sentence was read at rehearsals....

HA HA HA!!! I'm sure my brother appreciates the shout out!
MattyWizz and I got kicked out of the Brick Oven by Mr. Sugar one time... he gave us a VERY stern talking to out in the courtyard. What can I say... the Brick Oven brings out the best in all of us.

I'm just glad I always wore a baseball cap in high school, otherwise he might have slipped me the tongue.
