3 WCC Officials Suspended for allowing illegal substitutions

3 WCC Referee's were suspended by WCC Commish Jamie Z. after allowing illegal substitution's in the Santa Clara vrs UTEP game. The sub's were allowed at the end of the game.

It would'nt surprise me if Libby was involved. The ref's will be suspended for the first WCC game, I'm to lazy to lookup on google which ref's were involved or if it affects the referee's at the Zaggete game in Spokane for the Pilots.

The refs were Thomas Wood, Bruce Hicks, And Allan Pierce.

I'm sure Libby was the ringleader, though.

What kind of illegal substitutions were allowed? I hadn't heard about this, but that's why I come to PN - for breaking news.

Too bad they were WCC refs. If they were Pac-10 refs, hey, no problemo. They don't need no stinkin' rule book.

Maybe there's a reason refs wear jail stripes like Donaghy... Ouch, that was cold...like the Portland weather.

Could you imagine if this happened at a Portland game. Rev was really into that CAL. game, I could hear him laying into the ref's about fouls. Thats what's nice about our broadcast's, it's unsensored Rev on the sidelines yelling instructions an chidding ref's you gotta love it .

What would it have been Joel Sobatka holding Rev back if that were a Portland game? I love Rev's intensity it rubs off on the Pilot's. Overachiever's with a great intensity level. You can just see it in the boy's eye's on the court or on the bench not a one let's up .

Just following up on this... just one more reason for all of us to be impressed and thankful for our new WCC commissioner. I'm not sure if all of you listened to the Cal game on the radio, but Jason Brough had a nice interview with him and you can just tell that he "gets" it. I thought Gilleran was a very steady hand leading the ship, but I'm really excited about what Zaninovich will bring to the table. And anything that shows the WCC referees that he means business and will hold them accountable is great news to me... I think all WCC fans have been frustrated with the level of officiating for the last several years, and I'm loving that Zaninovich is showing us all that he cares about it and that he is willing to take action, which I assume wasn't popular with the officials.

Kudos to Zaninovich, and here's to better WCC officiating this year!!!

I'm sure this kind of accountability will be seen in sports on all levels in the near future....

This type of action is nothing new in college basketball.
