Malloy's teammate from Emerald City, Beka Kurle, also coming to Portland 2011.

Great first post, irish78. Its amazing how many first posts are recruit info. And it's not always somebody related.

Both players are on the '93 region lV team.

I notice another familiar surname there... Kassie's little sister is also on the team.

Interesting that Leahy's father was an athlete at Notre Dame and her brother went there. Looks like we managed to sneak one away from the Irish. (If they recruited her.)

It appears ms Kurle knows where the net is.

The area's most prolific scorer, her 38 goals and 13 assists led the Lancers from Burien to third place at 3A state. She scored in 18 of 23 games, and had two or more goals 13 times. She already has 56 career goals and 21 assists.

FINALLY!!! A couple of heartbeats coming to Portland as 2011 recruits.

I believe there are others out there not yet discovered or revealed.

And you have no idea what trouble I got into with a previous false report....

It was a great hoax, those of us with a certain sense of humor enjoyed it to no end, especially because we were taken in along with almost everyone else. I'm still waiting for you to tweak it and post it on some other school's blog.

I just checked the BS recruiting spreadsheet, and Leahy is still on it - but no Kurle.

Was Kurle ever on it?

(For newer members, some of us a year or so ago determined that BS confirms recruits before he posts them. Therefore, if a name is on there, some of us believe that the player is a confirmed Pilots recruit.)

I am the guilty party. Beka called Malloy and said she was committing on Saturday to Portland. I then posted my comment. Oops. She is now having second thoughts, and has not committed anywhere. Her name was posted on one recruiting site as committing to Portland, and now it has been removed.

I promise ... no more unverified information from me!

Don't worry about it. no harm done. she should be sure about what she wants to do before she commits. Whatever she decides, I hope the best for her.

I am ready to try again.

She was the only sophomore named to the ESPN -Rise All Area Seattle all star team last winter, a squad that included Kate Bennet as a senior.

Indeed.

Garret seems to have no qualms about recruiting players who are hurt. Look how he last one turned out!

I have a very good friend who is a recently retired knee surgeon. He handled many local high school star female athletes' ACL repairs, with great success. He feels that with the proper surgery, most ACL tears can be repaired fully with the young women going on to have great athletic careers. I imagine Garrett is keeping up with the latest in what is possible in terms of repairs (see Megan Rapinoe), so he is showing his usual cool wisdom in taking "chances" on these athletes.

Before her injury, Sippel was on the U-15 NT roster (the smaller 25-player group). This could turn out to be another great piece of recruiting by the Pilots.

Great to see local (NW) recruits signing up.

I didn't post that to knock her or Garrett's recruiting; she's a fantastic player with devastating speed and a fair bit of ability on the ball, and a great pickup for Portland. I was saying that in case anyone went to watch Westview, specifically to see her play.

Re ACL tears - Over the years, I had two girls tear ACLs on my high school teams. Both recovered completely. I have heard it said (don't know for sure if it's true) that a torn ACL that receives proper therapy is actually stronger then it was before the injury.

Was Meghan's re-injury on the same knee?

Also - that great site for recruiting results (it's a spreadsheet under google docs) has been down for a while - at least I can't get on. Anyone know what is going on there?
