Miami beat NC in OT giving NC its second loss of the weekend. NC now at 12-3-1. All 3 losses are ACC games.

Miami is only at 8-8-1 and I don't think that they were ranked at all.

I bet Portland goes to #2 in all the polls. I expect NC to drop to 5th or 6th.

Actually, they beat them in regulation. The game's only goal was in the 80th minute.

I don’t know if anything specific is going on at UNC (injuries, illness, etc) at this time. Assuming they are having the normal ups and downs that teams do, I would find it hard to think lightly, even after back-to-back losses, of a team that totally dismantled both UCLA and Notre Dame earlier in the season.

They have played a considerably rougher schedule than UP.

This is a reminder of how hard it is for even the top teams to go undefeated all season. Too many high-quality opponents, too many road games, too many chances to let up or slip up. UNC is still a fearsome opponent, though merely mortal.

Didn't their top offensive threat get injured a few weeks back?

One of their top offensive players, right mid Washington, is out for the season with an ACL injury. Plus, Tobin Heath has been gone on duty with the US Women in Germany. They've also had some other injuries, which may or may not be serious.

According to NC fans' comments on BigSoccer, there also are "team" problems. I watched the UNC v Wake Forest game and they looked fine. Who knows?
