Awards Banquet
Sunday evening the Awards Banquet took place in the new Commons dining area. The addition is very nice, by the way. Nice tribute to the 5 departing seniors, who each spoke and thanked teammates and coaches for help and support. Last to speak was T.J., who was choked up with emotion. Touching.
For player voting, the Most Improved was Nem. Luke was voted Best Defensive Player by his teammates. Taishi was voted Most Inspirational by the team. And they voted T.J as Most Valuable Player.
The Coaches Award (because it's selected by the coaches), which is based on effort, improvement, potential, and performance was given to Jasonn.
It was announced that seven new players are incoming; the 4 LOI's and 3 commits. One of the commits is a JC player, probably Derrick Rodgers. Guess we need to wait a couple weeks to find out the other two. Unless ESPN picks up some news. They are the only ones with all our known players listed. Scout has 3 of our 4 LOI's, Rivals thinks we don't exist.
Coach Rev mentioned that Coach Jackson is working on the schedule for next year, and the goal is to bring good teams into Chiles. Sounds like we may host a tournament. I also heard that PAC-10 teams are not returning our calls.
No elephants sighted.

Re: Awards Banquet
Surprise, surprise with the Pac-10 team issue...
But man, with 7 new players coming in and everything, this should make for a very interesting upcoming season, and a long, anticipation-filled off-season... I mean we haven't had a new player in 2 years and now we get 7! (Not to mention the plaudits that a lot of this has received for their HS play...)

Re: Awards Banquet
with four seniors and two juniors returning inAug and seven ijncoming players, all on scholarship ( i presume), and the announcment that Schaefer and Mivshek will also be returning, they must be walk ons. A little surprised at that. Waterford was not in attendence, but willbe back this week.

Re: Awards Banquet
It was stated that both Ryan and Cody are walk-ons, and they were not given the same certificate or whatever that everyone else got. But Rev did talk like they will both continue to be active with the team.
