Bracket Pool
The brackets have been out for well over 3 hours now and we know you don't have a job tying you down, so set it up R54!

Re: Bracket Pool
In his defense, the man IS just starting up a new job and relocating across the country....
(That said, I will be sending him a text message/facebook post/email barrage post haste)
But as this potty launguage-ridden deadspin article iterates, it's kind of hard to set your brackets until all the play in games finish anyway:
http://deadspin.com/#!5781536/they-ruined-the-goddamn-bracket
I kind of agree, sticking the play ins for the upset happy 12 seed makes it really hard to set a bracket ahead of time, shouldn't the last 4 in be, um, the worst teams to not make it automatically? I don't know, I know it is the first year of 68, but it just seems a little silly.

By the way, I found these pretty spectacular ways of picking a bracket if your knowledge of men's hoops is limited to our Pilots (and who could blame you really? )

Re: Bracket Pool
Thanks 54!
In case anyone wants to know, I went with the blue teams, and any tie breakers being the smallest mascot
Are we still playing for a bucket of beer in Vegas, or are we stepping up the prize this year?

Re: Bracket Pool
I will re-new the offer for a bucket of beer at The Orleans for the winner!
The winner must be present to collect said prize, or else I will enjoy it myself.

What if the winner is under 21?

You are automatically disqualified, but if you show up, I'll buy you a root beer.

Well that is a good question. As they say on the radio, we can "subsitute a prize of equal or lesser value" at The Orleans.... say, something from the gift shop or the food court.

Why do I have a feeling PilotNut will still buy that promised bucket of beer for himself anyway?

You are sure as heck going to beat me...
It is such a wide open year, mascot or color might actually be a viable criteria...

Re: Bracket Pool
No kidding... I took a stab at filling out some brackets today and was very much stymied on multiple occasions.
How good is Utah State? Will Arizona repeat it's traditional early exit? BYU without their 2nd leading scorer? How long can UConn keep up their winning streak? SDSU to the Elite 8 or Final 4? Notre Dame vs. Kansas? The entire SouthEast Bracket?!
I do love this time of year....

Re: Bracket Pool
I've already made 5 brackets, all different in some way. At least 4 of them are plausible. I can also see many more options. I might make a few more just for fun!

Re: Bracket Pool
I see Yahoo! allows for an auto-fill of a randomly chosen bracket. There is a solid chance I will use that.

Yeah, I think the Southeast bracket is the least predictable by far. Pitt couldn't make the Big East tourney final. Then there's BYU who is weaker without Davies at #3. I admit that I know absolutely nothing about that Florida team... I think that the Gonzaga vs. St. John's winner has a chance to do a little bit of damage. That could be a really competitive game.
1st round matchups that excite me:
Michigan vs. Tennessee: Tim Hardaway Junior vs. one of the really fun athletic teams...
St. John's vs. Gonzaga: Tough draw for both teams...
Arizona vs. Memphis: How much can Derrick Williams light up the tourney?

No worries if you have Moorehead State over Loiusville as a backup

Re: Bracket Pool
Since it's never to early to run the scenario generator....
I ran it with the highest seeds winning, and if that happens, DTR will win (How presidential of you!). Also, R54 would be in last place. One of them looking for no upsets and the other looking for lots of upsets . . Hmmm, are we sure they are not the same person filling out two brackets?

Can you run the scenario generator, with all the teams with the better mascots winning?

Woulda been more fun if the play-in teams were included in the brackets.
Then it would have been closer to 147,000,000,000,000,000,000
Weed out the guessers.

Re: Bracket Pool
Geez, it looks like you have Ohio St. advancing vs. an empty court!
I don't have Moorehead St., Louisville is my backup plan! At least I got the first 8-9 game correct.
