Re: Blame the Ducks...
I think the point is that the uniforms have become more about Nike (Oregon) and Under Armor (Maryland) making fashion statements than the traditional school colors... Oregon's white uniforms look more like Penn State uniforms than the more traditional ones or those worn by players like Musgrave or Fouts years ago...
Seeing uniforms like some of Oregon's newer ones or these Maryland uniforms or even the black UW uniforms in recent years really makes me feel old...

Re: Blame the Ducks...
I actually kind of like the Maryland uniforms. Do you think Maryland cares about what old men think about their uniforms? No they don't. They care about what 17 and 18 year old boys think. I'd be willing to bet that the deciding factor for several current Ducks to attend UO instead of other interested schools was the chance to wear those crazy ass jerseys. Do you think anyone would have talked about that Maryland-Miami had Maryland not worn flashy jerseys? No. Did everyone talk about the Maryland jerseys the day after the game? Yes. Maryland football was trending (whatever that means) on twitter and google. I'm guessing that has never happened and is a good thing for their football program.
If you don't like the uniforms and want to "blame" someone for them, blame the 18 year old kids who care as much about what they are going to look like on the field more than how they are going to perform. Nike and Oregon were just smart enough to be the first team to actively do something.

Re: Blame the Ducks...
Well, from what I could see most of the Twitter talk about the uniforms was negative. Lebron James could not stand them, and he has a pretty big pull on what 17 and 18 year olds think...
I donĀ“t think that having the two-toned helmets works very well...

Re: Blame the Ducks...
College football is getting ridiculous with all the uniforms. I understand that money is involved with jersey sales I'm sure at an all-time high, but it seems like every team in the nation now has 4 different jerseys, 4 different pants, 3 helmets. Is it really necessary?

Of course Under Armour had to have an answer to all the Nike pro combat stuff.
