Our own Micaela Capelle is up against our old friend John Canzano in the Willamette Week's Mayoral Madness contest.

Voting closes at 8 PM today (Monday), and she's down by about 60 votes. Swift action by the Pilot faithful can take down the bald one.

And, as I found out, you can vote as many times as you want! Good work Pilots faithful, Micaela just jumped ahead of the bald head -- keep it UP!

With 5 machines in the house and half a dozen browsers on each, it would not have mattered, but if we all check back around 7:30, the bald one has no chance.

Nice guy, though.

So sad. I would have thought it would be Micaela in a landslide....

Maybe John can write a column about that, then actually go to a Pilot game in the fall and have a complete change of heart. Not that he ever did that to another soccer team or anything.

Oh no, you went to that? Did you at least watch the Canada-Brazil game? That sounded pretty good.

What killed me was the people saying, "New England sucks, we'll beat them by 3 or 4."

Hahhahaha well they DO suck... And they were even worse than normal without Fielhaber and having to move Joseph to the back (He did an awesome job on Boyd though). But man the Timbers did everything they could to make the Revs look better...

Maybe they were intimidated by the 8,000 little kids in attendance?

And sadly no, I didn't catch the women's game as my arrival time was determined by someone else's driving. (They only offer public transit to Gillette on Patriot game days...)

So we still don't know for sure if it was a cross or a shot. Any ideas on how much time she will miss this season playing for the national team?

These polls have been set up to stop individuals from voting more than once (from the same computer, at least) but it has come to our attention that some people have been able to vote multiple times—either by deliberate chicanery or possibly just because their browser was configured that way. It was making the competition boring. The only way to address this is by blocking any given IP address from voting twice. The problem with this is that offices or households that share a network will also then be restricted to one vote. Our compromise for now will be to turn IP restriction on for each bracket after 5 hours of voting. Now keep it fair and democratic, or I'm going to turn this election around and there'll be no Mayoral Madness for anybody.

Now, why would ANYONE think of chicanery and voters in the same sentence?

Um... I think John got pissed and bitched.

I have 5 machines, each of which has several browsers set to kill cookies. My neighbors and I share our wifis ( Gotta be careful here. Word replacement keeps replacing wifis with a word that would get me in real trouble), so we can use portables all over the block, there is the pub, which has 2 different IP's, and I can always use cell phone service, which I think gives a different IP each call.

I'm probably not even the most connected guy around. And that doesn't even include
IP masking sites.
