Danielle Foxhoven got off to a spectacular start to her professional career, scoring BOTH of her team's goals in the first official game of the spring season, for a 2-0 win. (she also scored a goal in their first preseason game).

Also, she has a great blog going, with many pictures of her adventure in Russia and her team.

My wife says the former Soviet union hasn't changed much in 40 years, except there is food in the stores... and there are stores.

Russia is much, much different than the SU, but, in some ways not much has evolved since.

Certainly rural Russia is slower to evolve than the bigger cities. Voranezh is somewhere in the middle.

ATM's, food, commerce and capitalism permeate the culture. So does corruption, alcoholism and a cynical public.

Vodka is doing well.
