Re: Incoming Pilots
we'll my current beefs on BS is all the pop-ups that you get on the site so I stopped going there.
Second, a lot who post there seem to have an axe to grind when it should be fun just to follow your own team and support them through thick and thin. I mean half these girls are just teenagers and we shouldn't be dishing people when it is suppose to be fun seeing a competitive match even when you don't always win.

Re: Incoming Pilots
I see some more ECNL events coming up this month. One on March 9/10 will have WA Crossfire and Premier clubs attending. ON March 23/24, COL Rush and Utah clubs will be in Las Vegas. That gives us some roster of players to watch for '14, '15, or even '16.

Both good observations. If you become a BigSoccer subscriber, you can block all the pop ups. But, it costs something to be a subscriber -- on the other hand, it allows you to start threads.
Regarding the "axe to grind," you're right and it's true of most sport blogs. On the other hand, there are some really good and knowledgeable people who post on BS too. It's the site I use to report most of my RPI stuff (there's lots of it) and I think that almost all of the DI coaching staffs have someone who follows BS, so it's a great vehicle for educating them.
Besides our own PurpleGeezer (aka CliveWorshipper), other BigSoccer posters I recommend are SoccerHunter (ranks recruiting classes), GoCourage (maintains the NCSoccer website that has the "real time" RPI rankings, is a computer/website wiz, and is a person with whom I've collaborated on the RPI work for about four years now, even though I've never met him), DemitriMaximoff (Chris Henderson at AllWhiteKit.com who is one of the most knowledgeable people in the country about Division I women's soccer and who enters most of the data into the NC Soccer website), and Kolabear (with whom Clive and I debate often, but who works hard to keep reminding us all of the deficiencies of the RPI). If you can filter out the dross, there is some very good stuff on BS.
Re: Incoming Pilots
I just don't let my browser show popups. I never get them with Safari on
the iPad.
I guess I was grandfathered on the thread starting thing. I qualify by age.
It's a lot easier to take BS if you are from NY, where a cabbies Xmas greeting if you cut him off in traffic is
the iPad.

As to 2014, why have we only learned of only 4 on the SS for UP. BS says we have 6. Why don't we have better info from those in the know on PN rather than BS??
heck, its only 2013. has anybody on BS told you when the first Spring game is?

Nice to see a player from the Canadian neighborhood of Grant Park doing so well.

"These parts" as in LowerIr and UpperIr?
(Harry and I live in LowerIr. The Geez is more upper crust and lives in HigherIr. It's all in the numbers. I don't know where Parkes lives.)

I don't know if she lives with me and the other swells or with you and the Hoi Polloi, but she goes to Grant, so she can't be too far away, eh?

Re: Incoming Pilots
AllWhiteKit's Chris Henderson went to see the Atlanta Silverbacks play yesterday. He identified two players he liked, one of which was U of P's incoming Wetherington. He said she's pretty good and has very nice technical skills.
Re: Incoming Pilots
No sooner do I post about Allison Wetherington than I see that she is on the U20 WNT roster for two upcoming games in Sweden as part of the leadup to the next U20 world championship http://www.ussoccer.com/news/u-20-wnt/2013/05/u20-wnt-will-travel-to-sweden.aspx
Re: Incoming Pilots
Wow! Frenchie is letting 'em get tested. First they play Sweden's u20's On the 31st and then Sweden's u23's two days later.
We have all seen how team performance diminishes in college on one day's rest.

I was not aware of Evans' scoring ability.

The Rush team composed of players heading to college played a Sounders Women's team composed mostly of players already there played to a 2-2 tie last night. Danica Evans added two more scores to her totals in the 25th and 26th minutes.
Highlights here from the Sounders.

Re: Incoming Pilots
New roster is up on Pilots website. It's a bigger group than we've seen in recent years. I'm looking forward to the coming season. I understand that all the incoming freshmen will be registered at UP for summer school, taking classes and practicing with the team.

Twenty-three student/athletes, including eight freshmen....it will be a year of quick learning while still having some depth on the bench.Harry Redknapp wrote:New roster is up on Pilots website. The freshman better be here now or very soon.....the season begins in just over two months, and before the regular school year begins!
