There should definitely still spots available on the bus. It costs $30 total for bus, ticket, food, and beverages.
If you live in the Corvallis area or are planning on driving yourself, the cost is $20 for ticket and pre-game food/beverage.

Re: 11/13: Pilots @ Oregon St, w/ festivities!
DEADLINE IS THURSDAY.....to sign-up for the bus from the Chiles Center to McMenamins on Monroe in Corvallis and then on to the game against OSU on Wednesday 11/13. The bus departs at 2:15 PM.
I signed-up yesterday, and as Stoney said, the cost is only $30 to ride the bus, eat some pub grub, drink some beer, and watch the Pilots play the Beavers.
I'm excited to see this matchup with the Beavers....back in the '60's when UP and OSU played a home and home series every year, it was a wonderful rivalry.
(No word yet whether the President will be there)

I can't make it down to Corvallis. Anyone planning on watching at a sports bar here in PDX?

For the few of us who have access to the Pac-12 Network, OSU can be scouted tonight at 5 PM vs. Coppin St.
I would imagine a few coaches will be watching....but the players will probably doing the usual Sunday night catch-up before Monday classes.

Oregon State is DOWN by 10 at the half to Coppin State?
I know they're missing their starting PF Devon Collier, but damn...Collier will be back for the Pilots game (team-imposed suspension).

OSU came back with 47 points in the second half, but still lost their opening game of the season 78-73 to Coppin St.
I'm sure Deaner will write about some of the OSU players and stats when he starts the UP/OSU thread.....

Isn't this the UP/OSU thread?
Boys must be smelling blood - but they'll be dealing with a motivated (and desperate? Is it possible to be desperate in Game #2?) OSU team on their home court.DoubleDipper wrote:OSU came back with 47 points in the second half, but still lost their opening game of the season 78-73 to Coppin St.

Oh yea, so it is....I was thinking it was the festivities thread...DeanMurdoch wrote:Isn't this the UP/OSU thread?

Obviously a surprising and disappointing defeat for the Beavers, a team ranked near #70 in the nation, coming from Coppin St, a school I believe is only in its second year of D-1 and is ranked somewhere near #300.
It was even more surprising given that Coppin's conference, the MEAC, was 1-89 against power conferences the last 2 seasons....until tonight when it doubled its wins.

Re: 11/13: Pilots @ Oregon St, w/ festivities!
Coppin has been around a long, long time. They've actually been to the NCAA tournament. But you're right, they're probably ranked in or near the 300s and the MEAC usually takes a beating in non-conference games, mostly because they all play so many guarantee games on the road against big schools. They have to in order to pay the bills, though.

They were NAIA in the seventies. In the nineties the made the tournament 3 times and the NIT twice. Their last NCAA appearance was in the playin game in 2008 against Mt. st. Mary's.PurplePrideTrumpet wrote:Coppin has been around a long, long time. They've actually been to the NCAA tournament. They aren't the only team **cough** with history of getting creamed on the road to big teams.

Re: 11/13: Pilots @ Oregon St, w/ festivities!
Including tonight's win by BYU over Stanford, none of the WCC teams have lost yet - the only other conference that can say that at this point is the Big Ten. Nice feather in the cap for the WCC.
So that begs the question - which WCC team will be the first to fall? Games upcoming...
Tonight (midnight PT) - Akron @ Saint Mary's
Tue - UC Irvine @ Pacific
Tue - SJ State @ Santa Clara
Wed - Cleveland State @ USF
Wed - Portland @ Oregon State
Wed - Pepperdine @ UC Riverside

Re: 11/13: Pilots @ Oregon St, w/ festivities!
St. Mary's will have its hands full tonight, but I think they'll take care of it. Playing at midnight on West Coast time is doing no favors to Akron.
UC Irvine is a good team (picked to win the Big West, I think), and will present a strong challenge to Pacific. If I had to pick, that would be it.

No pressure on the Pilots, but the WCC is now 17-0.
The Beavers are favored by 6.
Other games Wednesday:
PU at Cal Riverside
Cleveland St. at USF

Dumb question - it says the game is on Pac 12 Oregon. I'm assuming that's NOT the Pac 12 Network that you can get on Dish?

Re: 11/13: Pilots @ Oregon St, w/ festivities!
As mentioned, OSU lost their season opener 78-73 to Coppin State. Roberto Nelson had 36 points in the loss against Coppin and took 26 of the team's 59 shots, 11 of which were three-point attempts - I'm assuming the ball will be spread out a bit more tonight as Devon Collier returns from suspension to make his season debut against the Pilots.
Starters
PG - Challe Barton (6-3, 200)
SG - Roberto Nelson (6-4, 200)
SF - Devon Collier (6-8, 215)
PF - Olaf Schaftenaar (6-10, 225)
C - Angus Brandt (6-10, 245)
Off the bench
SG/SF - Victor Robbins (6-7, 200)
PF - Jarmal Reid (6-7, 230)
PG - Malcolm Duvivier (6-2, 205)
PF - Daniel Gomis (6-10, 225)
This will be a tough game and a good test for these Pilots. Beavers on their home court with their backs against the wall already after a horrendous loss to open the year, and they return arguably their top player in Collier.
