I'm sorry to say that I was finally disappointed in the team tonight, but the pitch may have been the reason. None of the players seemed to do their turning the normal way...if they did, they may have fallen much more than they did.
My biggest disappointment was in the passing. I stopped counting at 100, but at that point, Pepperdine received 77% of the passes...half coming from the Pilots. Either there was too much pressure prior to the pass, or the footing was not good enough to get off an accurate one. Having said this, the score was 0-0 at that point, so I was sure that countermeasures would have been given out in the halftime locker room speech.
I'll be back cheering again on Sunday...I won't give up on these ladies.

Mixed feelings after the game. Understand the frustration and disappointment. And this was against a top 20 team.

Pilots are a young team. Missing three starters. McCluskie, Kennedy, and Young - who reportedly tore her ACL in practice.

DeHaan played in goal and made several good saves. Back four was Viera, Edenstrom, DeGrood, Boon. Kurle played holding midfield, Kendrick and LaPrevotte wide, with Wetherington at the point of the diamond, behind Evans and Sippel up front.

There were passages in the first half when they played classic Pilots soccer with good movement and retained possession and one and two touch passing. Pepperdine always looked dangerous but 0-0 at the break was fair.

Second half Pilots were not as effective at holding on to the ball. And Pepperdine had more chances. And the Pilots had several good chances too. Couldn't find the finish. 1-0 loss is better than I feared heading up there last night.

I got a t-shirt. Had to go over to the student side entrance.
I'm not mad at the new logo.

I thought they played as well as they have all year in the first.
They attacked the net. (6 shots I think, they have had games with lesser opponents and fewer shots all game.)
They went wide and sent dangerous crosses from the corner.
D managed to limit Pepper, despite having to scramble to get back and organized.
Second half Pepper turned it up a notch, and we looked tired, or at least played that way.
GK and D (and luck) robbed Pepper of more than a few goals.
Portland had their chances, but didn't score.

I had one eye on baseball updates. I just assumed that Luty was in goal, oops, and didn't notice that Young was missing, even though I looked for her a few times, but never saw here.

Thought Curle played real well, glad to see Sippe starting.

Boone and Evans seemed uncharacteristically quite. They ganged up on Evans when ever she touched the ball.

I hope we end this year with a few wins and a commitment to next year.

Winning is better than losing.
McCluskie played forward and looked great with time running out.
We are the U of P!

It was good for them to close out the home appearances with a win. It was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.

Sippel and Kurle played most of the game and Garrett gave Lorielle a cameo appearance for three minutes at the end.

Good luck and best wishes to all three of them. They've been great contributors to the program. All three always played with heart and intensity.

And what are the rules about how attendance is calculated. Box score says attendance was 3,030.

The actual number of butts in seats was closer to 30 than 3,000.

Tickets sold or given away at UP, I believe.

I get that season ticket sales would count. But seems like 3,030 was a deceptively overstated number.

Nothing like 3,000, but more than I expected on rainy afternoon.
Students did not show up on Sundays this year.
Fridays had record #s of students, but empty on Sunday.
Are kids today that serious about academics?
