Agreed...  but until it is proven on the court, I guess they get the benefit of the doubt... but SMC could be very average this season.

It would seem to me that the top 3 are pretty firm (GU, BYU, Pepp), as are the bottom 2 (LMU, USD)... but the middle 5 will be where the craziness is.  Our first WCC road trip on 12/31@USF & 1/2 @SCU should be very important games!

Can anybody come up with a team that has done as well with so little experience since the fab 5?

Just Who did Randy recruit to deserve such benefit of doubt?

Did anyone attend last Saturday's scrimmage? Any more insight into who we can expect in the starting line-up?

Any news from today's scrimmage against OSU?

Apparently coaches can now give general information tidbits about these "secret scrimmages," so that might be the best source for news.....

@CoachReveno wrote:Very good workout down at OSU yesterday. Probably about where I thought we were but great to get the more specific feedback to keep pushing.

Good effort on the boards and took care of the ball but showed still not where we need to be point of attack defense and offense execution.

And continued to be pleased with leadership of captains Wintering and Pressley and chemistry and effort of whole team. #WriteYourOwn

This announcement from UP regarding the WCC Tournament at the Orleans March 3 - March 8 2016 came and went pretty quickly:
Fans planning to stay at the Orleans Hotel are encouraged to make reservations now. To receive the special group rate, fans should go to www.orleanscasino.com/groups and enter the group code: WCCFN16.

Fans may also call the hotel's room reservations department directly at (800) 675-3267. When calling, fans must identify themselves as members of the "West Coast Conference Tournament Fan Block."
The group rate price is $133 for Friday and Saturday nights and $46 per night for the other days.....PLUS TAX.  The tax, on average, appears to be about $23 per night.

Last year I waited until early December to book a room and ended up missing out on the WCC discount (about a $200 savings), this year I booked early....I suggest you consider doing the same, as you can cancel without penalty up to 48 hours in advance.

OBTW, if you need Tournament tickets, call the Pilot Box at 503-943-7525, or email UP Ticket Manager Dave Taylor taylor@up.edu for more information.  Ticket packages include 9 men's games and 9 women's games for $190 and $245, depending on where you sit.

After seeing all the new faces in the UP MBB official photo today, it made me wonder how many players other WCC teams are having to replace on their roster this year.

Although this list is certainly not official, it does show that UP’s loss of seven players to graduation and transfer from the end of last season is not the highest number in the WCC.

GU: (4) Pangos, Bell, and Wesley; departure Nunez.
BYU: (7) Haws, Sharp, Windler, Halford, and Austin; departures Bartley and Neilson.
PU: (2) departures Biyendolo and Jesperson.
SMC: (5) Waldow, Carter, Bright, Jackson, and Simmons.
UP: (7) Bailey, Sharp, van der Mars, Barker, Carr, and Gerun; departure Zubizarreta.
SCU: (6) Clark, Johnson, Papenfus, and Atanga; departures Edwards and Richard.
UOP: (3) Aguirre and departures Robinson and Warner.
USF: (9) Glover, Adams, Hoffman, and Pinkins; departures Christiansen, Ferrari, Tollefsen, Robertson, and Lowe.
USD: (5) Anderson, Dee, and Jacobs; departures Kerr and Sarbaugh.
LMU: (10) Okonji, Flint, and Egbeyemi; departures Payne, Norris, Krajcovic, Jean, Siame, Wyatt, and Vernon.

They look more inexperienced than we do. Their returning players had a total of 16 starts last year.
After watching UP down Abilene Christian this evening I watched St. Mary's totally dismantle Stanford in Moraga, 78-61.  It was Stanford's first visit to Moraga in 28 years....I doubt they'll be back anytime soon.

SMC is VERY good....inside and outside.  Having watched SMC, PU, and BYU once each, SMC appears to be the better of three from the very small sample of games.

SMC's game against UC-Davis on December 4th could be a good gauge of how much the Pilots will need to improve to be competitive.

SMC is now 5-0 after downing UC-Davis, 81-67, tonight.

UP is probably a better team now than it was when it lost to UC-Davis 79-66 on November 15th, but they are still not anywhere near SMC  at this point in the preseason.

Some on this forum who are season ticket holders have asked when the Far West Classic tickets will be mailed out.....well, I'm told they were mailed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this past week.

So, if you don't receive your tickets by this coming Monday, you should give the UP Ticket Office a call....503-943-7525.

Included with the Far West Classic tickets will be any extra GU or BYU tickets you may have ordered.....
