PORTLAND, Ore. --- Nakeisha Brown and Kristina Koonce, who both hail from Houston, Texas, have committed to the University of Portland women’s basketball program, announced head coach Jim Sollars. Brown (Houston, Texas/Alief Elsik HS) and Koonce (Houston, Texas/Ross Shaw Sterling HS) have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Pilots next fall.
“Nakeisha and Kristina are both extremely versatile athletes,” Sollars said. “They’re both multi-talented and can play all three perimeter positions.”

Hmm...
Makes you wonder if anyone left. Those slots weren't available earlier, if they are scholarship slots.

Re: Womens Hoops Inks Two Recruits
It must have been difficult for Sollars to recruit this year, being that he will be retiring after next season, and there is no heir apparent to his position...
Speaking of which, any early thoughts on the next coach? I would love to see women's hoops return to the glory days of the early 90's...

For what it's worth, Koonce is graduating from the same high school that produced Clyde Drexler 30 years ago.

Greetings from Texas
Pilot fans will be pleasantly surprised at both these young ladies skills. With several good players returning next season your program looks to be headed upward. The decision to leave the Texas climate understandably wasn’t easy for Koonce and Brown, but the coaching staff had to have done a great job of recruiting and selling the Portland program. I look forward to the upcoming season and following thee two young ladies progress.
Both Koonce and Brown are shooters, scorers and will rebound and defend. They both have the potential to step right into the rotation and make an impact if they come in and work their tails off. Hopefully the two will bring a bit of our Texas style and play to the Pilots.
Brown graduated from the same high school (Alief Elsik HS) that produced Rashard Lewis ten years ago and was drafted out of high school by the NBA's former Seattle Supersonics.

Ah! welcome! Somebody who has seen the two play, I trust?
If you know of any links we can follow, pass them along.
We look forward to seeing them this fall.
