Re: Rev's Post-season Summary
Wait, did we have the 10th toughest schedule in the country or conference. The distinction there is the difference between awesome and terrible (not to mention impossible, in a 9-team conference).

Hahahaha well seeing that we were the only ones to play Kentucky @ Lexington.... I'm gonna assume the less depressing of the option.

hmm.
Looking at the final standings, it looks like SCU had the toughest conference schedule.

Re: Rev's Post-season Summary
According to Sagarin, we were the 73rd toughest schedule in the counrty, which was the toughest in the WCC. Rev probably meant that we had the 10th toughest non conference schedule.

Re: Rev's Post-season Summary
Rev uses Pomeroy as his reference point. KenPom rates UP’s non-conference schedule as the 10th toughest in the nation. UP’s WCC strength of schedule was rated 2nd toughest.
Portland’s final power ranking was 280/345 in the country (according to KenPom).

Re: Rev's Post-season Summary
I think Rev did a good job of playing down our expectations about the next coming of the "savior" to turn the program around.
Conditioning, fundamentals, individual work.............
To quote Mr. Donald Rumsfeld, the infamous former Secretary of Defense, "As you know, you go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time."

I'm not sure I would go around quoting a guy who's best quote is
"I don't know what the facts are but somebody's certainly going to sit down with him and find out what he knows that they may not know, and make sure he knows what they know that he may not know."
Or was it
"Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know."

Re: Rev's Post-season Summary
Or, as Rumsfeld said when asked about the Pilots prospects for next year,
"I would not say that the future is necessarily less predictable than the past. I think the past was not predictable when it started."

Re: Rev's Post-season Summary
Coach Wolf had some thoughts on the schedule:
BTW, does anyone have a report from the awards dinner? I wasn't able to go.
Via Twitter. He also commented on Ohio:I guess our schedule really was that good: 7 NCAA teams. 4 into the rd of 32. 2 in the sweet 16. We know what we are building for.
Congrats to @JohnGroce and Ohio U. As good a defensive team as we faced all season.

Um, if you mean last year's, it was simply delightful.up7587 wrote:BTW, does anyone have a report from the awards dinner? I wasn't able to go.
But if you're talking about this year's Men's Basketball Basketball Awards Program, it will be held Sunday March 25 @ 4pm (doors open at 3:30) in the Bauchio Commons Executive Boardroom. (RSVP by Thursday to Mary at 503-943-8420). $18 per person.
I haven't checked the Tournament schedule, but I assume the games will have finished by that time of day.

Re: Rev's Post-season Summary
Interesting. All the awards voted by the players, except MVP, went to a player who was not starting by season end.
