2016 Bracket challenge
It's almost that time of year . . . when we all think we know who the best teams in college basketball are.
PilotRiot BG never showed up in Vegas, so Pilotnut is off the hood on the bucket of beer again. Hopefully someone makes him pay up next year
Go here: https://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/t1/register/joingroup Click on Join Private Pool. Bracket is Pilot Nation and the password is purplepride. If you played last year, Yahoo should have emailed you an invitation to join, so just click the link.

For searching for the Pool, it requires the pool id, not the name. Can you post that?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: 2016 Bracket challenge
Two hours before the brackets are announced, the prognosticators are now guessing St. Mary's will not make it to the Tournament.
If that is true, it would not come as a big surprise due to SMC's relatively weak schedule, but it would be a disappointment on many levels....not the least of which is the lack of financial gain by SMC and its WCC partners.

#1 seed for Oregon.
#7 for Oregon State, in the same region as Oregon.
#11 for Gonzaga, against Seton Hall in Denver.
No SMC.

Notre Dame and Holy Cross are both in. Portland, unsurprisingly was left out of the field once again.

Um, you know Holy Cross is actually a Jesuit school, right?dholcombe wrote:Notre Dame and Holy Cross are both in. Portland, unsurprisingly was left out of the field once again.
I haven't seen the brackets yet, but I understand Syracuse and Michigan are in....and SMC is not. That does not make sense to me, but some of us always whine about the schools that are left out.

Oops, I was thinking of the other Holy Cross which is a member of the NAIA.

Re: 2016 Bracket challenge
Pepperdine to the CBI, and the only other WCC team that is .500 or better does not currently have a head coach.
It really was a down year for this conference, let's hope for better next year.

I just assumed everyone on here knew SMC and BYU were NIT-bound!
Watched Selection Sunday with my poor buddy that's an SMC fan. He was all set to fly to wherever the Gaels were going, and I may just have joined him if they were put in the Providence or Brooklyn pods. And then they weren't even one of the first four out! Shocking to me, I thought they deserved better.

Um, no. It is after all, Sunday, which means all day re-runs of Downton Abbey....Terry Cahill wrote:DoubleDipper wrote:SMC and BYU are both above .500, eh?

Tell that to St. Bonaventure.

SMC is a #2 seed in the NIT. The #1 seeds are Monmouth, So. Carolina, Valparaiso, and St. Bonaventure.
BYU also got a #2 seed.

Re: 2016 Bracket challenge
So, the prize of a Bucket o' Beers at the WCC tourney has been a tough sale, due to the requirement of travel... I would be more than happy to consider a different prize if anyone has ideas? (I will still enjoy buckets o' beer in Vegas, however).
Something that is easy & fun to redeem/give/receive/mail/convey is good... Thoughts? Oh, and not too much of a hit to my wallet... while this may be a respectable site (?), there are not bags of cash just laying around.

Haha, I too am in, and I'll probably make some outlandish choices....but Yale to the Sweet 16 might be a stretch.Terry Cahill wrote:Terry's in - Yale to the Sweet 16, baby!!
What about Kentucky winning it all this year.....when the "best team ever" did not win it all last year?
How far does UO really go? And if Baylor and UO meet, will our HD TVs explode from all the neon green?
Can Miami U and Notre Dame make it to the Final Four for a another "Convicts vs. Catholics" match?
What about Wichita St? Can they go from a play-in game to the Sweet 16? It's possible.
Do any Pac-12 schools make it to the Elite 8, or even the Sweet 16?
And finally, Gonzaga! Are they an Elite 8 team, or do they even make it to the second round?
All of these questions will be answered by April 4th!

Re: 2016 Bracket challenge
I am really struggling with how to handle Gonzaga this year. I feel like they are better than their 11 seed, but if they are cold from 3-point land, their run could be short. I don't know squat about The Hall, either...
I have my thoughts on who will make a run... but that is a secret until Thursday morning! (And based on prior years results, my opinion is pretty much worthless).

I think you ask every year and the answer is no. I use my yahoo account for nothing except fantasy sports. Nothing bad, not even a single spam message, has happened. It will really be okay to sign up.

Haha I was thinking after I wrote it that I had asked before....I had a yahoo address years ago but it was spammed hard and I shut it down. Guess you'll just have to believe me when I tell you I've got a great bracket.

Re: 2016 Bracket challenge
You could just open a yahoo email account and use it solely for this purpose annually... I do that on other sites for their pools. I don't even open that account 11.5 months out of the year... who cares if it gets spammed?

Based upon who's signed up so far and which emails from last year haven't signed up yet, quite a few people get a new account each each year. I think mostly because they can't remember their passwords though.

Re: 2016 Bracket challenge
I recently opened up my Yahoo account after almost a year away and had 74 spam emails.....I simply deleted all of them except the one from the Nigerian Prince who promised to "double" my bracket winnings....
