Spokane is inconsolable as Coaches Few and Lloyd lost, and Coach K moves on.
And west coast basketball stumbles again as the Pac-12 and WCC #1 seeds lose to the American champ and the 4th place SEC teams respectively.

It’s absolutely wild to see Isiah Dasher playing (and hitting threes) in the Sweet 16.

With UCLA's loss, the PAC-12 is also now done. The team still alive with the closest connection to the west coast is Kansas, approx. 2,400 miles from the Pacific Ocean.
At least the way the bracket is set up, we can't have a Duke-North Carolina final. Right?

Re: 2022 Bracket Challenge
Rochin is edging out me and canadagael for first, although I'm the last person whose national champ pick is still alive (Kansas). And is also the lone Elite 8 and Final 4 pick still alive. (Rochin and canadagael still have 3/8.)

Re: 2022 Bracket Challenge
Rochin's pick of Duke vaults him to a 6 point lead. I guess he was the only one willing to sell his soul for points. And nobody had Villanova? Two-third of us are done; we have no teams still alive. If I can analyze correctly, Voltex needs Kansas to win the championship and Duke lose their next one in order to pass Rochin. If Kansas beats Duke in the final, then Rochin and Voltex tie, and Blacksheep is on the hook for two buckets o' beer.

Re: 2022 Bracket Challenge
I think it is safe to say we will have a Villanova-Kansas and Duke-North Carolina final four. Have to root for Villanova from that group. Too bad both Duke and Carolina can't lose.

I am seeing reports that St. Peter's coach Shaheen Holloway is about to sign a 6-year deal with his alma mater, Seton Hall.Dean Murdoch wrote:It’s absolutely wild to see Isiah Dasher playing (and hitting threes) in the Sweet 16.

Kansas wins, Voltex wins. Kansas loses, Rochin wins. Simple as that.
Can I get a promise from both of you that you will both show up in Vegas for the prized bucket of beer?! Looser buys the second bucket!

Hubert Davis takes North Carolina to the championship game in his first year as head coach of the Tarheels. He had no previous head coaching experience. He played in the NBA 12 years. 8 years after retiring, he became an assistant at UNC, his first coaching job. 9 years later he took over when Roy Williams retired.

I was wondering why they always showed Roy sitting in the stands…seriously, I had no idea he retired.
Williams (71) and now Coach K (75)!
Who is the oldest active men’s basketball coach in the power 5/6? I asked Siri, and she did not know, or at least would not answer the question.

Jim Boeheim is 77. Got be near the top of the oldest list.

Re: 2022 Bracket Challenge
What a list, and you will notice that compared to yesteryear, fewer and fewer coaches are now coaching as long...burnout has got to be an issue.up7587 wrote:Edit: confirmed, found this: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-basketball/news/coach-k-duke-mike-krzyzewski-oldest-college-basketball-history/
I look at Mike Meek during games and worry about his health, but Shantay seems to have figured out the formula for turning his frustration (he is obviously done pulling his hair) into positive energy.
(BTW, I routinely watch televised basketball with the sound off, that is why I did not know the name of UNC's new coach. Can it only be downhill the rest of the way for Coach Davis?)

Have to wonder if Dana Altman (63) and Mark Few (59) will be coaching 10 years from now.

Burnout is an issue, but it was in the old days. That list is for coaches who coached in the last 40-50 years. Some of them coached or at least stared coaching when travel was primarily by train and bus.
There are 4 guys in the ACC alone over 70, so I think the rigors of coaching have gotten easier in the chartered plane era.
Mark Few gets driven a short distance to his chartered flight, a luxury coaches didn’t have years ago.

This list purports to rate the pain level of each loss so far in the NCAA tournament. You'll never guess who came in #5 most painful. And #1 most painful is delicious.
