Re: New Women's Pro League!
The Stanford website as I am sure you know, lists her hometown as Lake Forest, Ill. It also mentions that she played on the US U17 and U20 teams.

Yeah, she was a USA u23 player also.
Her wiki has already been updated. But her twitter feed is silent on the matter.

And post on Big Soccer....
in other news, Rachel Quon now has to incorporate new words into her daily vocabulary, such as "Eh!", "abouuuuut", "the States", and "North America".

Should have added "the Americans"
But of course, as a South American, I would have objected...

It is certainly a good catch for Canada, she is a fine player with a bright future.

Re: New Women's Pro League!
Thorns will continue to struggle offensively if they play two center midfielders who can't complete more than a handful of forward passes in 90 minutes. I'm sure Becky Edwards and Allie Long have some fine qualities but offensive intelligence and creativity are not among them. Thorns were woeful today.

Agreed. They also were beaten to a majority of the 50/50 balls, Chicago really out hustled them.

Not to mention the two goals. First one, nobody within 4-5 yards of Bywaters. They just lost track of her. On the second Santacatarina skins Edwards (I think?), while it seemed none of the Thorns defenders expected someone would be running to the far post. There was a lot that went wrong today.

Re: New Women's Pro League!
the Thorns have been busy also. Jasmyne Avant was waived, Becky Edwards had her knee surgery, which she said in her tweets went well, and they acquired Tiffany Weimer, former Penn State forward who was their star in 2005.
there are still rumblings that Tobin Heath will show up in mid July. We shall see, but they have her on their roster of 20 players right now.
Looking at the scoring charts, Dani is at the top of the charts in Goals per minute right now.

Also, there is a nice article about Dani and her brother in the Portland Tribune. Sibling Revelry

Re: New Women's Pro League!
I'm a little surprised about the Thorns waiving Avant -- she had a good game against Seattle last weekend as the first sub when one of the regular defenders (Buehler) is not available. But, maybe it's a $ issue, as the teams have a salary cap.

Well, Cone said the allocated players will be here for the rest of the Thorns games, and they needed room for Heath and Weimer, who will presumably be an attacking center mid. The small roster size did her in.

Re: New Women's Pro League!
I thought it was to make room for Heath too, but today they signed Casey Ramirez, so someone else will be moving on soon.PurpleGeezer wrote:UPSoccerFanatic wrote:I'm a little surprised about the Thorns waiving Avant -- she had a good game against Seattle last weekend as the first sub when one of the regular defenders (Buehler) is not available. Well, I have always thought Heath was more hope than fact, so we shall see. Now they are hinting Heath won't be here until mid July. Heath has never said boo about the Thorns in her tweets.

Re: New Women's Pro League!
Geez is probably right about Heath, he is usually right about most things, but I truly enjoyed a lot of the "away from the ball" work that she did in the US v China game played here. It is one of the intangibles that most people don't recognize about Christine...she has an amazing game WITHOUT scoring, but a certain scorer gets more headlines...many goals because of what has just taken place with Christine's passes.

Thorns are having a fan appreciation at Big Al's entertainment center. One thing I am anxious to see is Dani v Zach in bowling...not their scores, but their interaction...they are super close, but I've never seen them compete against each other in anything.

The dynamic between siblings is always interesting. I was roommates with two brothers years ago. Both were NCAA champion wrestlers. The younger one was probably better, but he grew up a conservative Jew where the ethic was that you never showed up a family member. He never beat his elder brother, though I am totally convicted he would have.
