WCC TOURNAMENT
The Pilots will play LMU at 6 pm on Wednesday March 6 in the “Opening Round Game” at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The game will be broadcast live on BYUtv.
We all know the Pilots (4-12) beat the Lions (1-15) twice this year, and we’ve all heard how difficult it is to beat another team three times in a season…..whatever!
I can only think the Pilots are eager to show they can still be better this season, while the Lions have to be very disappointed after many predicted they would be in the top 3 or 4 in the WCC this year. However, the Lions gave BYU everything they could handle this evening in LA before losing 73-70, so they may finally be on the upswing.
If the #8 Pilots can get be the #9 Lions in the first game, they’ll end up playing again at 6 pm on Thursday against #5 San Diego (7-9) or San Francisco (7-9). This game will also be broadcast live on BYUtv.

Only five wins away from an NCAA tournament berth? That sounds do-able!

Re: WCC TOURNAMENT
Pilots are apparently underdogs, as kenpom.com projects a 62-61 win for Loyola Marymount on Wednesday.
LMU brings a 14-game losing streak into this one...hopefully they'll just want to fold up the tent and call it a season, but I think we know better than to think that this time of season and Ireland always scares me. (p.s. how is he only a junior? Seems like he's LMU's key player for the last five years)

Someone go pry DD away from the craps table and get him searching!blacksheep wrote:Has there been an Oskars sighting in Vegas yet?
I am sad to say that I am skipping the tourney this year... only the 2nd time I have missed it since 1995, but I just couldnt swing it with work and other trips getting in the way.
So clearly, this will be the year that we go on a crazy upset spree and win the title.... hmmm, maybe my bad luck in the casino translated to bad luck in the arena?!

You and me both Nut. This is the first year I haven't gone since the tournament moved to Vegas (I went in Dec, does that count).

Ha-ha, contrary the email I received this morning from the Spearmint Rhino (apparently they now market their "product"), I'm still in the NW but will arrive in Las Vegas just in time for the Pilots pregame at Brandon's tomorrow.PilotNut wrote:Someone go pry DD away from the craps table and get him searching!blacksheep wrote:Has there been an Oskars sighting in Vegas yet?
The team arrived in Las Vegas last night, but I do not believe Oskars is with them. That's just a guess, and I hope I'm wrong.....Oskars loved his trip to Las Vegas in December.."

Re: WCC TOURNAMENT
I wonder how Oskars' violation compares to Tanner Riley's? How many games is it now? It must have been very, very serious! And now he's not playing in the tourney!?!
After watching the Gonzaga game, I can't help but hang my head a little--it's unbelievable that we wouldn't travel in a way that makes us as competitive as possible.
Let's hope we're wrong! And let's hope that the team has some success and gives us something to be proud of! It would be a profound disappointment to lose to LMU in the first round!

Re: WCC TOURNAMENT
There were a couple photos tweeted today during the team's walk-through at The Palms, and I did not see Oskars in any of them, but he could just be camera shy...

Speaking of the twitter pics, I looked up what the Hardwood suite costs per night - $25,000! Looks like we are moving up in the world

Oh dear... I forgot about that.up7587 wrote:What! Who is going to buy the bucket of Bud Lights?
PilotFan4Life are you going to Vegas? If so, I vote for DD to fill in on the prize presentation. Since the bucket o' beers is not an option for the minor winner, how about coffee & muffin from the coffee stand or a slice from Sbarro?
I promise the bucket(s) will flow freely in 2014!

A. PF4L's dad would probably kill me (although I might be able to out run him, even on my one good knee).
B. PF4L better be hitting the books in Montana...not hanging out in Las Vegas.

Hi Oldtimer,
Yes, I think that bringing Oskars along makes us more competitive. But not just against LMU and SF: it makes us better next year.
With our recent transfers out of the program, for whatever reason, I'm also always a little concerned when I hear about off court issues. I would hate to see another player leave. It hasn't always been about grades or discipline. Tim left, according to him, because of basketball. But I'm straying into subject matter that is better suited for another thread.
We need a few wins before the season ends, and I will be cheering the pilots all along the way.
Go Pilots!
