This was very confusing to see Wyatt Watson appearing in BYUtv WCC trivia.

A little over 5 years (March 3, 2017 vs. USD) since the last conference tournament win (and ties Porter's conference win total), wow.

Was not a great shooting first half so was feeling a little anxious every time USD crept forward ngl, but this is LeGahns (as the BYU commentator liked to pronounce it) guys, so props to them for not giving in and playing smart (besides that one Nduka turnover where he hit Austin's head and gave USD a three point play).

Sucks Meadows is out again. Saw Silveira on the bike the whole game, are they going to try squeeze him in?

On my laptop canadagael is center with the Wally Pilot shirt and Deaner is right with the beer can (his first of the day, I think. ). Mrs. canadagael is between them. And you can see about 5% of Blacksheep. I wouldn't know anyone else in the picture.

FYI, if you are not in Vegas, you missed a great celebration at the Alligator bar. Be here next year!

Um, there were many buckets purchased tonight.

USD's Calcaterra put up 20 last night, Pilots held him to 4 tonight.

And in All-Freshman team news, USD's McKinney was on the all-freshman team. Tonight he got 3 points on 1-4 3P shooting, no rebounds, no assists, no steals, 1 turnover and 2 fouls in 29 minutes.
Chika got 14 points on 7-11 shooting, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 turnovers, and 2 fouls in 35 minutes.

Sjolund had a double double, 14 points 11 rebounds. Robertson and Austin left a lot a room for improvement against SCU.

I won't say which 5% of me you can see, but 7587 was sitting next to canadagael. For some reason, if you just looked at him, you'd think the Pilots were losing. Thankfully the rest of PilotNation stayed positive.

Pilots vs Santa Clara approx. 10:30pm Saturday 3/5 ESPN2
SCU's last game was one week ago when they be the Pilots. Vrankic had 30 points, PJ Pipes was 5-7 on 3P's, and they won 102-89. The 89 polnts was the 2nd highest amount scored by the Pilots this season against a D1 team, topped only by he 92 against USD. Coach Legans was asked what the team needed to do to reverse the outcome. "We’ve just got to play a better game. They made 14 threes, scored 30 points with the big guy (Josip Vrankic) inside. They had 44 points in the paint. If they’re going to score 102, we’ve got to score 103."

Mike Meadows played 34 minutes in the last game, scoring 5 points. They used a 6 man rotation, vs. the 5 man rotation used last night.

Pilots are currently up to #169 in KenPom, 168 NET.

Somehow I do not think this will be a run and gun 103-102 game. The question is what do the Pilots do about Vrankic. It is hard to double him because the Broncos have multiple weapons, including All-WCC 1st teamer Jalen Williams and 2nd teamer Keshawn Justice.

Las Vegas has the Broncos by 9 with a 151.5 o/u.

KenPom thinks there will be more scoring than that, having SCU by 8, 82-74.

A Pilots win tonight would give them 19 for the season with an eye on the team's first 20-win season since the 2010-11 season when UP went 20-12, including a 3-game losing streak at the end of the season with a WCC Tournament first-round loss to LMU and a postseason loss to Hawaii in Honolulu.

Tournament vibes and team growing (and ref ball) aside, seeing USF handle BYU it's crazy to think how we were so close to beating them at home and beat them on the road.

Aside from wanting the Pilots to win, my biggest hope was the Cougar fans would be sent home early.

Loved seeing Bouyea slam home the final USF basket and get some hang time (and a technical) at the end.

BYU fans booing...that's rich.

Herb Sendek and SCU wanted to prove something tonight. In a game they had in hand by halftime, and the Pilots putting in subs in the last 10 minutes, SCU played their starters until 3 minutes or less to go. Perhaps that will come back to bite them against SMC.

They'll get an extra day of rest instead of a roughly less than 24 hour one.

From what we’ve seen, it’s hard not to say Santa Clara isn’t the best team the Pilots have played this year that’s not named Gonzaga.

That said, I hope SMC blows the doors off them on Monday.
