Re: Annual Pilot Nation Bracket Challenge
Usually the better I do in the first round the worse I do overall. Not many people have lost any multiple round winners yet. So there is not much of a difference between first and last. I love the brackets!
On a side note, on SportsCenter they just said 4 people went 0-16 yesterday. That might be more impressive than a 16-16. I wonder if those people sent the 16s all the way...

Dang. I was looking forward to being Upset Guy and crowing about how I had my eye on Utah State all along. But I did totally predict the Western Kentucky game.
Good start to today's action, still.

Coldsmoke, did I see that you picked against Western Kentucky in the first round? How could you do that, especially after we spent two years thinking your mom was a Hilltopper?

I am doomed.
Thanks, it's still very early...especially for how the scoring is set up for our contest. Did anyone pick Dayton over West Virginia? That one messed me up.

I had WVU in the Elite Eight.

Re: Annual Pilot Nation Bracket Challenge
Dayton Flyer's I should have picked them deeper into the tourney. I watched them earlier in the year on ESPN , the intensity they showed and the speed of their gameplay impressed me. I had not seen a team play like that since Nash,Barbosa,Shawn Marion, etc days of Mike D'tona coaching day's of PHX SUNS.
Dayton Flyer's ,one exciting team to watch, win or lose .(I'd like to see the Pilot's play like that ocassionaly with TJ,Stohl, Nik,Robin and Kramer pushing the ball with Stohl's shooting benefiting from it greatly). It's not like we don't have a deep enough bench, and Robin and Kramer can outrun and have more endurance than any big men they play against. Oh well, only in my dreams.....Rev prefer's that slowdown Jasonn,Hegarty lumbering up the court slllooowww play.I should be grateful that we didn't have to endure that 2007-2008 dribble the ball up the court backward's stinker season. But,you know me alway's pushing for more offense for the Pilot's.

Re: Annual Pilot Nation Bracket Challenge
I can't remember whose brackets, but one had Wake in the Championship game and another had FSU in the Final Four. Those were probably the two "worst" picks of the first round.
For the most part there are a lot of points left on the table. I think there are very few Elite Eight teams that are already out, and most people have most of their 16 teams still alive. I know that I myself have three Sweet 16 teams out, all lost yesterday.
All those points still out there are going to make this an exciting bracket to follow.

Re: Annual Pilot Nation Bracket Challenge
Couple great finishes tonight. I got to enjoy the Duke-Texas game, so all I saw of the Zags was the last 54 seconds of the 1st and 45 seconds of the game. But that last series was just amazing. The tip-in and Goodson turning around and going the other way in 5ish seconds, very Tyus Ednyish.

Re: Annual Pilot Nation Bracket Challenge
Wow, there were some great finishes the last few days. Western Kentucky can sure come back in a hurry. Mendez-Valdez is something else... That was Tyus Edny-like indeed by the Gonzaga freshman. It was a clutch play in a pressure situation. I'm sure Gonzaga is relieved that didn't go into overtime. So we've got to play against that kid for three more years... ?

Re: Annual Pilot Nation Bracket Challenge
+1000.
They remind of the last Yankee dynasty: they always get a big play when they need it. And their fans: you can make noise early in the game when you're not up big, you know. Did you see how the UW fans were cheering in the first game? Oh, I get it. The first weekend is been there done that, you're saving your energy for the Sweet Sixteen.
After the Boilers got by UW I was thinking, "well, the Huskies lost and I saw Brockman cry, so whatever happens here happens. I've had a tremendously good day." Hey Overton: only little no-class punks show their jersey to the other team's fans.
Then WKU plays out of their minds. Mendez-Vazquez was ridiculous. The Tops have every reason to be proud and hold their heads up.

Re: Annual Pilot Nation Bracket Challenge
I had West Virginia in the regional too. I think that the way the scoring in in this contest almost everyone is still in it though until you have 2 final 4 teams go out...
----------------------------------------
Comparing Gonzaga to the Yankee dynasty is a little bit overboard. Gonzaga hasn't ever made the Final 4 that I know of, and the Yankee's have several World Series titles. Even if they're our rivals, I don't get it...

Re: Annual Pilot Nation Bracket Challenge
Of course I know Gonzaga, for all their preseason talk, never actually delivers. My point was they make clutch plays and seem to get lucky like those Yankee teams did. And that's why I hate the Yankees and the Zags.
To the Zag fans lurking (Angela): Go ahead and put up my last posts on your board and have fun. The party will end next Friday when you take on a real superpower.

They're just beating the teams that they are supposed to beat; they'll go down to UNC in the Sweet 16. Have the beer ready for that game.

By the way, has anyone heard the rumors of Mark Few moving on to coach the U of O?

Dominic James cleared to play for Marquette. Wow, I wish I knew that was a possibility. I wonder how his fitness will be and how much he will be able to contribute. This is a very interesting development. Marquette has definitely not been the same team since his injury.

Re: Annual Pilot Nation Bracket Challenge
UNC's Lawson is better now too...which isn't surprising. According to a friend of mine who is a UNC fan, Roy Williams always tends to exagerate injuries. I believe I heard that Lawson had 23 points and some assists in the last win over LSU, and he'll be very ready for the matchup against Gonzaga which is good. I have GU going down in the Sweet 16 to UNC.

Re: Annual Pilot Nation Bracket Challenge
Yeah,it hurts our RPI if they go down in the sweet 16.
The Marquette situation is wierd, usually your bummed out if your team has a injury. Now it's like their excited because of getting a guy back. Hope he is able to adjust better than Patty Mills. Jame's uses alot of his quickness in his game, he was one of my fav players a couple of year's ago.W0ow is he able to push the ball!!!

Yeah, Marquette was a fun team to watch a year ago. They knocked off the Lopez twins and Stanford a year ago, didn't they? ...or was that the team that Brook Lopez's last second shot beat? I don't remember. Anway, what was James' injury?
