Re: Future Opponents' Results
Some will get an opportunity to scout our Dec 22 opponent Colorado State tonight at Colorado at 7:30 PST on the Pac-12 Network.DoubleDipper wrote:CSU is tough again this year.pilotram wrote:CSU Rams 79, Evansville Purple Cobras 72.
They are 6-0, and if they can get by Colorado on Wednesday, they have a very good chance of going undefeated in preseason play.
The two teams are evenly matched and the pundits are saying the game is too close to call......
A win tonight will most likely result in CSU being undefeated when UP faces them in Las Vegas.

Re: Future Opponents' Results
So.. You are bankrolling the up in the insurance payment for the next time they do it?
I will say, though. Judging from the two attempts at three's the girl made, she had an even worse chance than I would have of making a half court shot. The
F= MA wasn't computing.

Re: Future Opponents' Results
Surprising. WSU is bottom half of the Pac-12. Looking at the box score, two starters (Dower and Landry Edi) were complete non factors. And Pangos shot 2-12. Olynyk came off the bench with 22 points to save the Zags.PurplePrideTrumpet wrote:Gonzaga beats WSU on a layup with 2 seconds left. I can't even **&*&^*&^^**%!!.

Hmm, yea I think UIC in Chicago will be tough.pilotram wrote:Maybe. UIC on the road will be a challenge I think.DoubleDipper wrote:

Regardless, CSU lost for the first time this season to CU.
Race horse basketball, and kind of sloppy I thought. UP CAN beat them if the guys can go inside and rebound....sounds familiar doesn't it?

Re: Future Opponents' Results
It would be tough. CSU currently 14th in the country in rebounds per game. If the Pilots play their best, and CSU like they did last night, then we could have a game.DoubleDipper wrote:Hmm, yea I think UIC in Chicago will be tough.pilotram wrote:Maybe. Re: Future Opponents' Results
I happened to be at the game last night, I live in Denver with my brother (a Gonzaga grad, and CU grad/season ticket holder) and I will have to say I was impressed with CSU. I expected the game to be close, but had never seen them play really. They got down early and looked terrible early, but every time they got down, they came back. In the second half they even pulled within two or three after being down by more than 20 I think, and it wasn't all at one. It was somewhat methodical comeback to get it within 10 and then make several great possessions in a row to get that close before the Buffs turned up the intensity on Defense, which led to intensity on offense. This comeback was all infront of a hostile/sellout croud that is really embracing basketball as a feature sports, especially since the football in Boulder has been dismal for a while now.
I would definetly say rebounding and staying out of foul trouble, especially for the bigs, are two keys. CSU's transfer from Minnesota is huge, and powerful. Too bad Jasson isn't on the team anymore to bang around down there but Thomas and Riley really need to get ready to bang.
My overall impression is that they are a physical team that crashes both the offensive and defensive glass hard. Should be a tough matchup.

Excellent report, DTL. Yes, if we just had Jasonn, who by the way is in the top five in rebounding and scoring in Slovenia.
This may be a little long....but it's Jasonn:

Zags lose to the ilinni 85-74 as Brandon Paul scores 35.
Zags shot 60% in the first half to build a 31-20 lead, then shot 38% in the second stanza.

Re: Future Opponents' Results
I didn't realize this until checking a few results today. Apparently the Pilots are part of a de facto four-team round robin next week -
Monday Dec 17
North Florida @ Colorado State
Cal State Bakersfield @ Pilots
Wednesday Dec 19
Cal State Bakersfield @ Colorado State
North Florida @ Pilots
Saturday Dec 22 (Las Vegas - Orleans Arena)
Colorado State vs Pilots
Cal State Bakersfield vs North Florida
Interesting bit of schedule congruency here.

Ha ha, you just weren’t reading the posts…… we actually starting talking about that in April on PN.
Mississippi Valley, Georgia Southern, Bradley, and Virginia Tech have the same sort of set up before everyone meets in Vegas, baby!

Well, crap.
On the bright side, at least I haven't told anyone today that Idaho State is in Caldwell!
And now after that light roast I should admit that I knew nothing of Elgin Baylor's minor connection to UP and I thoroughly enjoyed that read.

Re: Future Opponents' Results
Looking at the UP "Game Central" internet option, it doesnt show the game for Friday nor the next two. All that are listed are the womens games. The schedule shows a link but.......
Does anyone have any insight if the Fridays game will be viewable on the net?

Re: Future Opponents' Results
I wouldn't read anything into the fact that they're not listed yet. The Stretch schedule has to be input separately from everything else and it's actually quite the pain in the rear to sit down and input a big batch of games.
It's likely that the guys will put up the three upcoming games on the Stretch site in the next couple of days.

Man, the the Pepperdine and Santa Clara games sure screw up a couple of perfectly good golf Saturdays, but at least the guys will be able to sleep in their own beds after the game in Spokane.
