My apologies, OT, they are NOT yet on Stretch Game Central.....but I think Dean is correct; I'm confident they'll be up shortly.oldtimer wrote:DD I cant seem to find them. Re: Future Opponents' Results
Was at NDSU/Minnesota tonight. Both good teams - was surprised to see one of NDSU's better players, Taylor Braun - a 6-7 guard - was from Oregon (Newberg).
Doesn't really fit in the Future Opponents thread but whatever!

It would have to been a good game considering the proximity of the schools, but Minnesota will rarely lose this year......and may not lose at home all season.DeanMurdoch wrote:Was at NDSU/Minnesota tonight. NDSU has played Indiana, so I'm sure they weren't intimidated, but I bet those boys from Fargo were wide-eyed in the big city...

Re: Future Opponents' Results
It's a past opponents' result, but OSU beat PSU in the Stott Center tonight 79-74. OSU's trap killed the Vikings' offense, the Beavers ended up using their size advantage on offense (the PSU front line is one big defensive liability), and the Vikings were fixated on outside shots instead of going to Renado Parker, who was having some success in the post.
With their home-and-home with PSU concluded I'm sure OSU will put the Pilots on the schedule next. Right?

Looking forward to a North Florida scouting report from Pilotram tonight!

Re: Future Opponents' Results
Haha well I bailed at halftime, but I'd say they got a couple white boy three ball shooters and not much else. A familiar story for Portland fans no doubt. Sorry I don't have a better take, bball isn't my strong suit.DeanMurdoch wrote:Looking forward to a North Florida scouting report from Pilotram tonight!

Blizzard warning for Peoria. Wonder if that'll affect Bradley's travel plans....

Portland and San Diego are 4-6 against Division 1 teams...which is what counts in the RPI that matters come tournament time. It's nice to see nobody doing terribly outside conference this year though.

Re: Future Opponents' Results
I thought I'd take a stab at our conference brethren's schedules to date, looking for best wins and worst losses.
LMU 5-5: best win, CS Bakersfield; worst loss, Alaska Anchorage
BYU 8-3: best win, Utah; worst loss, Florida St.
SMC 8-2: best win, Utah St; worst loss, Pacific
SCU 9-2: best win, St. Louis; worst loss, UC Santa Barbara
USF 5-4: best win, St. John's; worst loss, Holy Cross
PEP 7-5: best win, Wash. St; worst loss, Utah Valley
USD 6-6: best win, Tulane; worst loss, Montana
GU 11-1: best win, Oklahoma; "worst" loss, Illinois
For comparison, I'd say the Pilots best win is CS Bakersfield, and the worst loss is Montana St.
GU and BYU have played challenging schedules, and USF has played a decent schedule. The rest are not rated so high. It is a shame that Kentucky is dragging down the Pilot's strength of schedule rating.

SMC avenged their earlier loss to Pacific on Wednesday night in Moraga, detroying the Tigers 74-46...maybe that was their best win....up7587 wrote:SMC 8-2: best win, Utah St; worst loss, Pacific

Re: Future Opponents' Results
Hmm, this is highly unusual; WCC teams played 4 games today, and the Pilots were the only team to win.
Northern Iowa beat St. Mary's 82-75 in a game delayed a day due to ice and snow in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Mississippi beat USF 85-78 in Honolulu.
James Madison beat San Diego 62-59 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.
PORTLAND PILOTS beat Bradley 57-55 in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena.

Re: Future Opponents' Results
Hope you had the opportunity to watch the ultimate gym rat, Kevin Pangos, score 31 at home tonight as #14 GU beat #31 Baylor (the team that beat Kentucky in Lexington earlier this year) by 7 points.
Pangos, only a sophmore, is wonderful to watch...even if it is for GU.
GU is now 4-0 against the Big 12 this year.

Gonzaga looks better than any team we've faced thus far - UNLV, New Mexico, and Kentucky notwithstanding.

I hope everyone is watching the Santa Clara-Duke game right now. Kevin Foster has 18 points at halftime and Santa Clara is down by 2!

Yep, I'm all over it. Duke by 8 at the moment, but one helluva improvement for a SCU team the Pilots beat three times last year.NoPoNeighbor wrote:I hope everyone is watching the Santa Clara-Duke game right now. Kevin Foster has 18 points at halftime and Santa Clara is down by 2!

Re: Future Opponents' Results
Duke's pulled away, in part due to Santa Clara stealing some of the Pilots' go-to moves: fouls, turnovers, and missed layups. Also, Santa Clara's defense has really fallen apart.

BYU is putting a beatdown on Virginia Tech right now, same Va Tech that went to OT to beat Bradley.

Re: Future Opponents' Results
#13 Gonzaga is at #22 Oklahoma St. on Monday afternoon at 3 PST on ESPN2. This should be a terrific matchup….if GU clears this hurdle, they could go into March with just the lone loss to Illinois tarnishing their record. The game is rated even by most observers with a slight edge to OSU playing at home. I don’t think the 136 o/u is nearly high enough.
If you stay tuned to ESPN2 after GU vs. OSU you can watch St. Mary’s take on Harvard at home after beating Yale in Moraga this afternoon. I would love to see those two schools send their teams to the Chiles Center. Moraga?
Those are the last two WCC preseason games; the rest of the teams wait until Wednesday or Thursday to play again.
BTW, if you want to see Texas Pan-Am again, they are in Corvallis tomorrow afternoon at 2 PST on the Pac-12 network.

Re: Future Opponents' Results
Yale did play at Portland in 2008. The Pilots had four guys in double figures, shot 60%, and won by 14.
I was already planning on going down to OSU tomorrow because I am free and I am that insane.

Yea, I remember the game well. My boss at the time was a Yale grad and our wager resulted in a case of French wine in my celler....and I kept my job.PurplePrideTrumpet wrote:Yale did play at Portland in 2008. The Pilots had four guys in double figures, shot 60%, and won by 14.

SMC gets a 70-69 win over Harvard. Trailed the entire game until they hit a couple FTs with 1.1 secs left.
