Re: Tournament Pick'em
I think it’s time the NCAA took another look at the Flagrant 1 rule…..and Rev agrees:
Sure, I was rooting for Miami over Illinois, but the out of bounds call in favor of Miami was clearly wrong, and all we get from the NCAA is, “Too bad, so sad.”
Officials can take 2 minutes to determine if there is 29 or 31 seconds left on the shot clock, but can’t take 30 seconds to find out who should have the ball in the final minute of a two point game? That’s just WRONG!
(Long) question: Why does the NCAA delay so many games so officials can determine the severity of what, in most cases, are clearly inadvertent elbows (yea, yea, I know, brain concussions), but they won’t even take a moment to determine who touched the ball last before going out of bounds?Only concern would be NCAA wouldn’t be able to control itself and it would add pages to rule book. Sort out Flag. 1 1st.

Re: Tournament Pick'em
I agree, DD.
I would like to see the NCAA expand use of the replay. But, they need to set some standards to minimize the delay (such as number of cameras & angles, minimum technology requirements--which may already be in place?). I would also say that there needs to be some limits on when to use it; maybe only certain calls (out of bounds, back court or shot clock violation, player control foul vs. the protected area) could be reviewed in the last 2 minutes of the game, etc.
I dont want the delays to get ridiculous... we dont need to stop for 5 minutes to check an out of bounds call with 6 minutes to go in a game where one team is up by 32 points... maybe something similar to football, where each team gets a "challenge" in each half?

The last two minutes of the game take 20 minutes anyway, when the refs are just standing around. They can review the last call during each stoppage.

And yet Stonehouse, with zero incorrect picks, still cannot win this darn thing. Oh the shame.

If the higher seeds win out, MaizeBlue wins it. That's now me, here's to no more upsets
Team ranker (whatever that is?) has WW Winkie winning it. (What the hell kind of name is WW Winkie?) I still don't know what it is, but this distinction now belongs to Matty "the Whizzinator" Wizz.
I need Marquette to pull out at least two more wins. I don't know if I can take two more down to the wire games from them. Well, that couldn't have gone better for me.
The Geez (has the highest possible points) can still win it, but as near as I can tell, needs Michigan St. to beat Duke. Geez can still win, but no longer has the highest possible points.
Even MesaPilot1 has an outside chance to win it. Not anymore
Either way, MaizeBlue is my favorite to be drinking the bucket in Vegas next year. Sorry Maize, you're out. I can now taste the Bucket o Beer!

Re: Tournament Pick'em
So, another #1 seed bites the dust.
A huge similarity, in my mind, between Gonzaga’s loss and that of Indiana’s last night, was the lack of good play from the big men Kelly Olynyk and Cody Zeller.
It would seem based on each player’s final performance in the NCAA Tournament, the NBA draft stock of both has dropped considerably….particularly that of Zeller’s.
Considered by some to be a top prospect, and a cover-boy for Sports Illustrated, the IU center was exposed as an unathletic, overhyped future NBA project.
At least Olynyk showed some athleticism, but the NBA game is so much more about strength and length up front than in the college game that both may have dropped out of the first round….if KO goes at all this year.
BTW, had Indiana never seen a zone defense before? I guess it was not employed in the movie “Hoosiers,” but one would have thought there’d have been some evolution of IU’s offense before they played Syracuse last night……

NO!
Olynyk is a GREAT NBA prospect. He' s sure to make obscene enough money to buy a custom made Lamborgini !
No reason for him to hang around the little wcc.

Re: Tournament Pick'em
So my yahoo account is reactivated and I attempted to join the group to check the leaders...but apparently you have to join and have a valid bracket even to view. So if someone could update me on the leaders after tonight's games that would be fabulous.
Dropped from #1 to #8 yesterday in the work bracket. My East/West brackets are toast. Today though I have a chance at going 4/4 and I still have a Louisville/Kansas final so I've still got a chance to make up ground over there.

Looks like Winkie and Even Money still have a chance. What a collapse by KU. That's three #1 seeds out now. UL looked strong against a game Duck squad.

.....but I made such great picks like New Mexico and Wisconsin and Georgetown.....what happened???blacksheep wrote:Jealousy doesn't suit you DD
Only two teams left on my entire bracket, Duke and Louisville, and they play each other on Sunday....if Louisville doesn't prevail, I will have no team in the Final Four for the first times since I began filling out the bracket in 1983.....
More disappointed and confused than jealous....I always hope others do well...as long as I do better.

Re: Tournament Pick'em
Well...mathematically can't get 1st in my work bracket anymore. 3 for 4 put me back into 5th....but I only needed 2 of 4 as long as they were Louisville and Kansas....I thought things were looking good until...sigh.

Not sure what Team Ranker is other than the fact that it has Wichita State over Ohio State and that I like it. Go Shockers!

What is it with teams from Kansas and not holding on to big leads? At least the Shockers didn't lose it all, even though their guy couldn't make the FTs at the end. No last second heroic shot tonight for Ohio St.

Technically, I can win with no teams in the final four. That's what I'm rooting for.
