The Big East women's basketball teams have done well also.up7587 wrote:Since I like to bash the Big East, I should at least recognize that they got two teams in the Final Four.
The Women's Final Four consists of:
#5 Louisville (Big East)
#1 UConn (Big East)
#1 Notre Dame (Big East)
#2 Cal (wow! Pac-12)

One win and I'm in Pliny for the year.
I think we need to pray for you if you win. I'm not sure you can survive a year of all you can drink Pliny. I sure hope you get to try though

As the “Catholic Seven,” or whatever number they are up to now, is taking the “Big East” name, I’ve read the old Big East name is now “American Athletic Conference;” the AAC.up7587 wrote:Since I like to bash the Big East, I should at least recognize that they got two teams in the Final Four.

Glad to see NCAA/Louisville is making money off #5 Kevin Ware at $24.99 a pop:

Ugh... I sincerely hope some of that money goes to covering his med bills or something worthwhile. OH well, at least Coach Pitino was willing to run and get Ware chicken wings at 10:30 AM from Dickie V's favorite wing shop! (No, seriously....)

Louisville isn't making any money...at least not directly as they've waived licensing royalties. They are indirectly making money as part of the sales goes to their scholarship fund which doesn't seem all that bad.
"This "Ri5e to the Occasion" shirt has been created as a respectful tribute within NCAA trademarked apparel parameters and allows fans to rally around them team. Because of that, UofL proactively waived any licensing royalties connected to this graphic and Adidas is contributing a portion of every sale to the University's scholarship fund."

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha, anytime someone has to come out and say it's "a respectful tribute," one's motives have to be questioned.dholcombe wrote:"This "Ri5e to the Occasion" shirt has been created as a respectful tribute within NCAA trademarked apparel parameters and allows fans to rally around them team.........."DoubleDipper wrote:Glad to see NCAA/Louisville is making money off #5 Kevin Ware at $24.99 a pop:

Hmm, maybe UP should have a #35 tribute jersey.....his injury wasn't as gruesome, but it will take David as long or longer to recover.....

Re: Tournament Pick'em
Contributing "a portion" of every sale. No all proceeds, not all profits, etc., just "a portion." So, how much is that portion? $0.01 of the $24.99? This type of marketing drives me nuts... no transparency at all.
The soon to be released Pilot Nation v2.0 T-shirts will have 100% of revenues after printing expenses donated to the Pilot Club. And it will be transparent, so you will know how much is being donated.

The way fashion trends in dress have gone in the last 10 years or so, I wouldn't be surprised to see this shift from being an error to a feature.

Are you officially in Pliny for the year now or do you need to wait for the outcome of the final?

A prayer for you geez:
Bless, + O Lord, this creature beer, which thou hast deigned to produce from the fat of grain: that it may be a salutary remedy to the human race, and grant through the invocation of thy holy name; that, whoever shall drink it, may gain health in body and peace in soul. Through Christ our Lord.
In case you think I made it up, it's a real Catholic prayer (link).

The NCAA has been doing this for years in Lacrosse, and the final four weekend is the best attended weekend of all NCAA tournaments ( yes, bigger than the basketball final four)
About ten years ago, this included the Women's Lacrosse tournament for all three divisions as well.
The event got too big, logistically, so the women went off on their own hosting events at campuses for each division.
