Someone called "Blacksheep" with 26 out of 32. It’s probably not the same "blacksheep" who's our commissioner.dholcombe wrote:Who's in the lead in the yahoo bracket? I just attempted to sign up just to look, but apparently I haven't used my yahoo account in so long it's deactivated and they want 24 hours or so to reactivate it... Apparently someone has to type it in off the stone tablets.

Re: Tournament Pick'em
Ha-ha, you gotta like the perspective.....from Bud Withers, Seattle Times college basketball reporter:
And "it's only a game....."For their part, the Zags nearly copped college basketball's scarlet letter (Thursday), letting Southern dance at the edges of the first upset of a No. 1 seed by a 16 in 29 seasons of the 64-team-plus tournament.
I witnessed Princeton's 50-49 loss to Georgetown in 1989, when the Hoyas blocked a last-possession jumper by the Tigers. Monstrous as that would have been then, multiply it by a few gazillion tweets, blogs, websites, message boards and talk-radio assaults, and that would have been Gonzaga. The national scorn might have fried the campus, caused enrollment to plunge and federal grants to cease.

Re: Tournament Pick'em
Marquette gave me a good scare yesterday and today, but I'm moving on up in the world. #2/125 in the work bracket. Haven't lost any additional teams today, but got no points from Arizona since I had New Mexico winning that one...why'd they have to lose to Harvard?!

So now the question is, did Olynyk's stock with the NBA go up, down, or does it make any difference?PurpleGeezer wrote:Olynik, PLEASE don't lay on the court sobbing....
Already looking forward until next year regardless of KO's decision....

Recipe for beating the Zags: shoot 14-28 from 3pt and 25-50 overall!

If you are into Schadenfreude, now's a great time to visit the GU Board. A lot of them are out for Few's scalp. And of course there's the chorus blaming the WCC for their loss as they didn't have good enough competition to prepare them for the tournament. They are calling to join the new Catholic 7 or something.

The wcc gave them a number one seed in the tournament.
No other conference makes it so easy for the conference leader in the conference tourney.
Fav joke on GU boards:
There's a new bar opening up in Spokane called "Fews" but you are unable to get drunk there. You have to leave after two rounds.

Re: Tournament Pick'em
I read the odds of filling out a perfect NCAA bracket were 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 to 1.
What? I had no idea what those numbers really meant, and when someone tried to simplify it by saying, “That’s one billion, 9.2 billion times” or it’s 500,000 times more than our $17-trillion national debt,” it still made no sense to me.
But when it was explained, “You’d have a better chance of hitting four holes-in-one in a single round of golf” it put everything in perspective….
Hey, at least there’s a chance, right?

Yeah, I am rooting against Ohio State at this point and as the guy sagged back on D, I was thinking "No. NO. NO! Why are you giving him so much room?! Oh man he took it. He made it?!? #$*! "

Re: Tournament Pick'em
Now that the sweet 16 is set, it's time to play with the scenario generator. Still lots of people have a chance at winning.
NoPoNeighbor . . Thanks for playing
If the higher seeds win out, MaizeBlue wins it.
Team ranker (whatever that is?) has WW Winkie winning it. (What the hell kind of name is WW Winkie?)
I need Marquette to pull out at least two more wins. I don't know if I can take two more down to the wire games from them.
The Geez (has the highest possible points) can still win it, but as near as I can tell, needs Michigan St. to beat Duke.
Even MesaPilot1 has an outside chance to win it.
Either way, MaizeBlue is my favorite to be drinking the bucket in Vegas next year.

I’ve talked to a number of coaches (in various college sports), and they all seem to agree that, to some extent, there is some RPI manipulation that goes on when making schedules.pilotram wrote:Do the accusations of RPI manipulation have any merit? I haven't looked much into this.
So I turned to our old friends Sagarin and Pomeroy for their versions of the top ten basketball conferences in America….there are a total of 33 D-1 conferences!
Sagarin:
1. BIG TEN
2. BIG EAST
3. BIG 12
4. ATLANTIC COAST
5. PAC-12
6. SOUTHEASTERN
7. MOUNTAIN WEST
8. ATLANTIC 10
9. MISSOURI VALLEY
10. WEST COAST
Pomeroy

2. BIG EAST
3. ATLANTIC COAST
4. PAC-12
5. MOUNTAIN WEST
6. BIG 12
7. SOUTHEASTERN
8. ATLANTIC 10
9. MISSOURI VALLEY
10. WEST COAST
With Big Ten teams Michigan, Michigan St., Indiana, and Ohio St. all advancing to the Sweet 16, I believe the Big 10’s rating as number 1 has some merit.

Now if I could just say the same with my family's brackets.
I'll be the happiest if I am the "favorite" after the last game.
