Re: Tournament Pick'em
I’m sure some of you have seen this picture on social media. Who needs to watch the NCAA Tournament in a sports bar when you’ve got TVs like this in the office of the men’s basketball assistant coaches and director of operations?
It’s taken from Coach Wolf’s desk…..I love the scribbling/diagramming on the glass between his office and Coach Pfaff’s…..do you suppose they have the key to the bracket there somewhere?

Pilotram and I both had New Mexico in the Final Four. His text to me after the game "Well I guess we are dumb." Yep. That about sums it up.

Amen, brother. UNLV and UNM on the same day.....and they were thought to be the biggest hopes. I had UNM, my favorite team in the tourney, going all the way.pilotram wrote:I just want to believe in the MWC...
It is hard to tell which fact made skeptics more incredulous - that the league finished the regular season No. 1 in conference RPI, or that it earned five spots in the tournament, including Boise State's first-ever at-large berth.
Lots of scrutiny......
Rooting for SDSU and CSU, but neither is in my bracket.
But there is hope; Air Force did beat Hawaii in the first round of some alphabet tournament yesterday in Honolulu....nice trip for the cadets in March.

Do the accusations of RPI manipulation have any merit? I haven't looked much into this.

First I've heard of such a thing out here in the far west....is it just Rocky Mountain paranoia?pilotram wrote:Do the accusations of RPI manipulation have any merit? I haven't looked much into this.
I'm told Mary Jane can have that affect.

I don't know what charges you are talking about, but the selection and seeding committees have repeatedly said that RPI plays only a small role and they use the other criteria more.
This change curiously occurred after MVC schools started bumping BCS schools out of the tournament after home court adjustments were added to the RPI.

Apparently not. And apparently my worry about them having trouble with Wisconsin is also moot. I feel better about a Zags vs Ohio State game happening like my bracket says now...but losing two teams that were supposed to make it to the round of 16 to make me feel better. Not ideal.

Re: Tournament Pick'em
Wisconsin shot 26% for the game. That is not going to win you very many games, tourney or otherwise.
I had NC St. as a darkhorse in a pool.... they best get their act together in the 2nd half...

The only paranoia I've experience at Mary Jane was when I thought someone was eyeing my line in Hole In The Wall on a powder day.
I think the idea is that you schedule a few more DII schools that don't count for RPI, because scheduling a low-RPI DI school doesn't help you and can only hurt you. Maybe I'm getting this wrong.

Re: Tournament Pick'em
Just looked at the Yahoo overall leaders. There are still 30 brackets with 20 for 20 picks. Hard to believe anyone took Harvard. And 3 #12 seeds.

Re: Tournament Pick'em
Don't know about brackets, but that's the formula for effective FG percentage at the top (it counts 3s as 1.5 made FGs). Maybe they made a breakthrough in increasing our offensive efficiency.DoubleDipper wrote:

Bitter, bitter man. So bitter he stoops to the lowest untruth possible, making Harvard look disadvantaged for not offering athletic scholarships.
What he doesn't mention is that unless Daddy is a Bilionaire, no Harvard student pays much, if any, tuition. An incoming student for 2012 Whose family makes less than $65k pays nothing, and will even be reimbursed for study abroad.
Maybe Loboland could recruit better athletes if they offered such a deal.
And oh yeah, when you have that Harvard degree you sign the paychecks for the rest of the slobs on Earth.

I once lived in Albuquerque, and know the fans there to be loyal and quick to financially support the athletic programs....I'd just have to say, "Good riddance" to our "sportswriter" friend.

......but the Mountain West still has two in as SDSU stops Oklahoma..
Busted my bracket even further, but I was rooting for the Aztecs nonetheless.

23/32 in the first round. In a ? way tie for 12th in my work bracket out of 125+. Most possible points remaining out of the 12's though.

Who's in the lead in the yahoo bracket? I just attempted to sign up just to look, but apparently I haven't used my yahoo account in so long it's deactivated and they want 24 hours or so to reactivate it... Apparently someone has to type it in off the stone tablets.
